Track & Field Set to Host 2023 Redhawks Invite in the Home Opener

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri track and field will compete at their home opener for the 2022-23 indoor season at the Redhawks Invite on Saturday, Jan. 14. The competition will be held at the SEMO Recreation Center and is free and open to the public.
Competition will begin with the Field events starting at 12:00 p.m. C.T. with the women's pole vault and will be followed directly by the men's event.
The Running events will start at 3:00 p.m. with the women's 55-meter hurdle prelims followed by the men's 55-meter hurdle prelims. The meet will conclude after the women's and men's 4x400-meter Relay starting at 5:30 p.m.
The 2023 Redhawks Invite will include eight other teams competing against SEMO. These teams include Bethel College (Tenn.), Christian Brothers College, Drury, Missouri S&T, Southern Arkansas, OVC-member UT Martin, and Williams Baptist (Ark.)
Kansas City Smoke, "a USATF Elite Development Club established to provide training and competitive opportunities to emerging elite, post collegiate distance runners based in the Missouri Valley Association", will also be competing in the Redhawks Invite.

SEMO began their season with an impressive performance at the Purdue Edmonds-Wilt Invitational on Dec. 10, 2022.
Six Redhawks achieved personal bests at Purdue in multiple events.
Todjai Ross achieved a PR in the women's long jump, with 17-11 ¾ (5.48m) jump placing third.
Brendan Parham set a new PR in the men's 60-meter dash with a final time of 7.21 in the events first round.
Senior Parker Feuerborn placed second in the weight throw and set a new personal-best with a 69-2 (21.08m) mark.
Makenzie Williams set her new personal-best in the weight throw as well with a heave of 56-10 ¼ (17.33m), this throw earned her the silver medal
Breanna Miles raced the women's 60-meter dash in 7.63 for her new personal record, placing fourth in the event
Xzavier Bartlett ran a 36.65 to set a PR in the men's 300-meter dash and picked up a fourth place finish
Luke Hatfield-Jackson won the men's high jump competition, he leaped over a height of 6-10 ¾ (2.10m) to win the event.
Seth Gleason won the Men's 3000-meters race crossing the line in 9:12.92
Terrico Garrett and Seth Gleason placed second and third, respectively, in the mile. Garrett finished the distance in 4:28.29.
Sophomore Erika Mellor competed in the women's 500-meters race for the first time, she crossed the line in 1:20.40 good enough to take home the bronze medal.
