Andrews Slams Career-High Three Home Runs as Redhawks Drop One-Run Contest

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Lincoln Andrews went 3-for-4 with a career-high three home runs as Southeast Missouri (18-7, 3-2) dropped a tight 8-7 ballgame to Austin Peay (10-18, 3-2) Saturday.

Andrews homered in each of his first three at-bats with a solo bomb in each of the second and sixth innings, and a two-run shot in the fourth. He narrowly missed tying SEMO's all-time single-game home run record of four presently held by Scott Pruneau. Ironically, Pruneau set his record at Austin Peay on Apr. 13, 2014.

A native of Canon City, Colorado, Andrews became the first Redhawk to get three home runs in a game since Matt Tellor accomplished the feat at UT Martin on Mar. 30. 2014.

SEMO pounded out 11 hits. Jevon Mason (2) and Andrew Keck (2) joined Andrews with multiple hits.

The Redhawks struck first by scoring twice in the top of first and added another tally in the second before getting three more in the fourth.

Keck drove in both runs in the first and Andrews extended SEMO's lead to 3-0 with his first round-tripper of the contest in the second inning.

In the fourth, Ty Stauss started things off with a home run to right field. Following a walk by Mason, Andrews stepped in and slugged a home run down the right field line.

Andrews then came up again in the sixth and widened the Redhawks lead with his final home run, this time to right center.

APSU overcame a five-run deficit by scoring six runs in the bottom of the seventh to edge SEMO. John McDonald's two-out grand slam was the difference.

Hunter Ralls (3-2) took the loss in relief for SEMO.

Jacob Weaver (1-1) picked up the win and Peyton Jula was credited with the save.

The Redhawks and Governors conclude their series Sunday. Right-hander Tommy Windt is on the mound.
