Redhawks Fall in Doubleheader Saturday

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri (21-17, 10-5) dropped its doubleheader to Austin Peay (21-20, 8-9) by scores of 3-1, 3-0, Saturday at Cathi Maynard Park.
 
In game one, APSU took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning with a RBI-double by Bailey Shorter and run scoring single by Kendyl Weinzafel.
 
The Governors tacked on one more run in the fourth courtesy of a leadoff solo home run by Mea Clark to make it a 3-0 ballgame.
 
Kaylee Anderson's one-out home run in the top of the sixth inning gave SEMO its only run. For Anderson, it was her team-high 10th home run of the season.
 
Jordan Benefiel (10-7) went the distance allowing one run on five hits. Benefiel also struck out six and walked two in seven innings.
 
Paytience Holman (4-3) took the loss. Holman worked six innings giving up three runs on six hits.
 
Kynzie Wrigley had two of the Redhawks five hits. 
 
Brooke Pfefferle's two-RBI double in the first inning keyed APSU's 3-0 win in the nightcap.
 
The Governors added one final tally in the bottom of the third when Lexi Osowski hit a solo home run.
 
Harley Mullins (6-5) allowed just four hits in her complete game shutout. Three Redhawks reached base against Mullins.
 
Marisa Davis (4-5) gave up two runs on two hits and walked two. Rachel Rook allowed one hit and struck out four in six innings after relieving Davis in the first.
 
Paige Halliwill, Aubrie Shore, Karsyn Davis and Tori Bradley each had a hit.
 
SEMO is back in action when it travels to Murray State on Apr. 23-24.
