Three-Run Third Inning Lifts Redhawks to 3-2 Comeback Victory; Redburn Gets 200th Career Win as SEMO's Coach

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri (21-15, 10-3) scored three runs in the third inning to overcome a two-run deficit and edge Austin Peay (19-20, 6-9), 3-2, Friday afternoon at Cathi Maynard Park.

SEMO picked up its 10th Ohio Valley Conference win and gave Head Coach Mark Redburn his 200th career victory as the Redhawks skipper. Redburn is now 200-162 all-time in his eighth season at the SEMO helm.

The Redhawks fell behind on a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning before mounting their comeback in the third.

Sydney Dennis drew a two-out walk and went to second on a single by Abigail Rickermann. Paige Halliwill followed with a two-RBI double to tie the game. Kaylee Anderson followed with a single and Rickermann scored to put SEMO ahead, 3-2.

Rachel Rook, who relieved Marisa Davis in the third, retired 15-straight APSU hitters over the final five innings.

Rook sat down all but one of the 16 hitters she faced en route to increasing her record to 12-7 this season. She allowed just one hit, had one strikeout and gave up no walks in five scoreless innings.

SEMO outhit APSU, 6-3. Rickermann, Halliwill, Anderson, Aubrie Shore, Sydney Melton and Tatum Gerwitz each had a hit.

The Redhawks, who are on a seven-game winning streak in league play, wrap up their series with the Governors Saturday with a 12 p.m., CT doubleheader.
