CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics captured five individual event titles as the Redhawks totaled 194.100 Friday night in their home opener at Houck Field House. Lindenwood took the dual with a total score of 195.150.
Lindsay Ockler won the bars while
Anna Kaziska secured the beam title.
Kaziska also tied for first overall on floor with her former club teammate,
Madison Greene. The duo ranks tied for seventh all-time in SEMO history with floor scores of 9.925.
Molly Maxwell earned the all-around crown with 38.200 and
Lydia Webb finished as the runner-up with 37.900.
For Ockler and Greene, it marked the first career titles for the freshmen.
SEMO commenced its home opener with a season-best 48.375 on vault.
Ockler led the Redhawks with a 9.800 in the anchor position for third at the meet Friday.
Nyah Reader and Kaziska each chipped in 9.675s in the third and fifth lineup slots, respectively. The mark was a career best for Reader, a freshman from Rexford, New York.
Maxwell (9.625),
Jolie Miller (9.600) and Webb (9.525, PR) rounded out the Redhawks opening rotation.
SEMO then notched a 48.675 on bars in the second rotation which matched a season best.
Ockler, a freshman from Huson, Montana, led the way with a career-best 9.850 to win the event. Webb added a 9.775 for second overall at the dual.
Jordan Jones and
Jolie Miller each hit 9.700s while
Ashley Albrecht (9.650) and Maxwell (9.625) rounded out the rotation.
The Redhawks then totaled a 48.325 on beam in the third rotation. SEMO was led by Kaziska with a 9.875. Reader added a career high 9.850 to finish as the runner-up on the event behind Kaziska.
Jones posted a 9.750 and Miller tallied a 9.600.
The Redhawks concluded their home opener with 48.725 on floor.
Greene and Kaziska who both competed for Champions Gymnastics in Kentucky won the event with 9.925s in the third and sixth lineup slots, respectively. For Greene, a freshman from Crestwood, Kentucky, it was a career-best while it matched a personal-high for Kaziska.
The mark ties for seventh all-time in SEMO program history. Kaziska has registered the mark twice to match head coach
Ashley Lawson (Godwin). Lawson holds the Redhawks record with a perfect 10.000.
Webb was fifth at the dual with a 9.725 on floor.
Maxwell finished with 9.700 and Ockler compiled a 9.450.
Lindenwood won the dual with a total score of 195.150. Gayla Griswold took first in vault with 9.900.
SEMO next heads to St. Charles, Missouri, for the 2022 GymQuarters Mardi Gras Invitational held at The Family Arena Feb. 18. The Redhawks will compete against Illinois State, Lindenwood and Iowa State in the quad meet.
