Speller Wins Beam Title as Redhawks Register 193.075 For Fourth at 2022 GymQuarters Mardi Gras Invitational Friday

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Anna Speller won the individual beam event title as Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics notched a 193.075 for fourth Friday at the 2022 GymQuarters Mardi Gras Invitational quad meet held at The Family Arena.
Speller, a sophomore from St. Louis, Missouri, matched a personal-best 9.900 beam routine to capture her first career event title. For Speller, Friday marked her 2022 debut after missing the first five meets.
Iowa State posted a season-high 196.325 for first at the quad followed by Illinois State (195.175) and Lindenwood (194.400).
SEMO opened the competition with a 48.525 on floor. Anna Kaziska led the way with a 9.850 for fifth at the quad while Lydia Webb was second on the Redhawks with a 9.775.
Molly Maxwell added a 9.675 followed by Nyah Reader (9.650) and Lindsay Ockler (9.575).
The Redhawks then registered a season-best tying 48.375 on vault.
Ockler led SEMO with a career-best 9.850 for sixth overall Friday.
Janelle Lopez, a freshman from Cape Coral, Florida, added a personal-high 9.750 in her Redhawks debut. The score was her first mark of 9.700 or higher in her collegiate career. She also had a 8.800 in her first career collegiate bars set.
Maxwell chipped in a 9.700. Nyah Reader posted a 9.550 and Jolie Miller had a 9.525 to round out the rotation.
SEMO hit a 47.575 on bars in the third rotation of the evening.
Miller paced the Redhawks with a 9.825 achieved in the anchor position. She finished fifth overall at the quad meet.
Ockler added a 9.800 in the fifth lineup slot.
Webb posted a 9.625. Ashley Albrecht, a senior from Everett, Washington, notched a 9.525 on her birthday.
The Redhawks wrapped up the quad meet with a 48.600 on beam.
Speller paced the Redhawks with a personal-best matching 9.900 for first overall Friday.
Kaziska was third overall at the quad with a 9.850, notched in the anchor slot.
Reader posted a 9.750 followed by Miller (9.600) and Webb (9.500).

SEMO next hosts Illinois State Friday, Feb. 25 on Senior Night at Houck Field House. First rotation is slated for 6:30 p.m., CT. The Redhawks will recognize seniors Anna Kaziska, Makenzie Marciniak and Ashley Albrecht for their careers at SEMO at the dual.
