Beilsmith and Beasley Named to 2022 All-OVC First Team Wednesday

Beilsmith Tabbed the 2022 OVC Defensive Player of the Year

MARTIN, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri women's volleyball libero Tara Beilsmith and outside hitter Zoey Beasley were both selected to the 2022 All-Ohio Valley Conference First Team, the league announced Wednesday. Beilsmith, the seven-time OVC Defensive Player of the Week in 2022, was also selected as the league's Defensive Player of the Year. 
 
Beilsmith is SEMO's first-ever OVC Defensive Player of the Year in program history (award first was given in 2004). 
 
Beilsmith was named to her third career All-OVC Team and first career First Team Wednesday.
 
The senior libero from Weldon Spring, Missouri, leads the OVC with 437 digs (6.24 digs/set) in league matches in 2022. Beilsmith is also third in the conference with 0.37 service aces per set (26). 
 
She is third on the team with 113 assists (1.61 assist/set) this season during the OVC slate. 
 
Overall, Beilsmith leads the conference and is second in the nation with 695 digs this season. She broke her own SEMO record for digs in a single season, with a 5.99 dig-per-set ratio in the regular season while also dishing out 172 assists. Beilsmith also leads SEMO in service aces for the season with 35.
 
Beilsmith has finished in double-digits for digs in all but one match in 2022. She has posted 20 or more digs 21 times including 16, 20-plus dig performances and five 30-plus dig performances. 
 
Beilsmith has also compiled her first three career double-doubles in 2022 with a career-high 10 assists at Little Rock (Oct. 18), at Lindenwood (Oct. 27) and against SIUE (Nov. 4).
 
She has finished with 20 or more digs in 14 of the last 17 matches.
 
Beilsmith holds the top-three single season digs records (660 in 2021, 641 in 2019) in SEMO program history (25-point rally scoring era, 2008 to present). 
 
As a Redhawk, Beilsmith has totaled 2,159 digs in her career which ranks second all-time in SEMO program history behind Molly Davis (2,223 digs from 2006-09).
 
She had a season-high 36 digs against Western Michigan on Sept. 10.
 
Beasley was selected to her second career All-OVC First Team Wednesday.
 
In OVC play, Beasley leads the Redhawks and is fourth in the OVC with 253 kills (3.61 kills/set) during league matches in 2022. She is also fifth in the conference with 3.94 points per set (275.5 points).
 
Overall, Beasley, a senior outside hitter from Paragould, Arkansas, ranks third in the OVC with 383 total kills (3.30 kills/set, fourth) on a .219 hitting percentage is and fourth with 421.0 total points on 1,097 total attacks.
 
Beasley is also fourth on the team with 56 total blocks (14 solo, 42 assists). 
 
She has finished in double-digits attacking in each of the last six SEMO matches.
 
Against Tennessee State, Beasley registered a season-high 22 kills on a clip of .286 against Tennessee State on Sept. 26.
 
She is 28 kills away (972) from 1,000 in her career as a Redhawk which ranks sixth in SEMO program history (rally scoring era, 2008 to present).
 
No. 5-seeded Southeast Missouri women's volleyball (15-15, 10-8 OVC) faces #4 Eastern Illinois (16-15, 10-8 OVC) Thursday afternoon in the First Round of the 2022 Ohio Valley Conference Championship Tournament in Martin, Tennessee. First service is set for 3 p.m., CT at the Skyhawk Fieldhouse.
