PEORIA, Ill. – Southeast Missouri Cross Country competed at the Bradley Pink Classic Friday afternoon at the Newman Golf Course in their final tune-up race before competing in the 2022 Ohio Valley Conference Championship.
The men accumulated 693 points in the Men's Red Race (8K) and finished 26th out of 35 teams.
On the women's side, the Redhawks placed 29th overall in the Women's Red Race (6K) getting 761 total points. Thirty-eight teams ran in the top women's race Friday.
The SEMO women also ran in the White Race (6K), placing 10th overall (278 points) in a field of 22 teams.
It marked the first time the Redhawk women had run a 6K in 2022, the distance of the upcoming 2022 OVC Championship.
On the men's side,
Aaron Modrow paced the way for the Redhawks. Modrow crossed the line in a personal best 24:58.7 for 110th.
Noah Little (143rd, 25:16.4),
Terrico Garrett (162nd, 25:25.1),
Justin Splitt (177th, 25:33.0, PR),
Nick Cimmarusti (183rd, 25:38.2, PR),
Clayton Eftink (204th, 25:52.9, PR), and
Garrett Dumke (247th, 26:28.4) followed Modrow in the 8K.
Freshman
Jacob Blassingame (252nd, PR) also competed and finished in 26:36.4.
Ryan Martins of Loyola (Chicago, Illinois) finished first in the Men's Red Race with a time of 23:27.8 followed by teammate Chris Devaney (23:31.7, 2nd) In the men's white race, Nicholas Hoffman of Grand Valley State finished first overall with a 24:33.7 8K. Hoffman was also followed by his teammate, Samuel Baustert (24:57.0, 2nd).
In the women's Red Race,
Katie Wegmann led the Redhawks finishing in 117th place with an overall time of 22:10.0 (PR).
Hannah Eastman crossed the line in a personal best 22:17.9 for 133rd.
Taylor Fox competed in the Red Race and placed 166th, crossing the line in 22:35.7 (PR).
Sophomore
Madelyn Gray posted a mark of 23:19.8 for 213th.
Mackenzie Pugh (23:25.2, 218th, PR),
Layla Fliege (23:40.8, 236th, PR), and
Lexie Dockstader (24:11.3, 271st, PR) all also ran in the Red Race for SEMO.
In the white race,
Brianna Payton led the Redhawks, finishing in a personal best 23:34.0 for 38th.
Sarah Russom completed the 6K in 23:49.3 (PR) for 54th.
Haley Smith followed close behind finishing in 65th, crossing the line in 24:09.0 (PR).
Freshmen
Alayna Sparr and
Kayla Vogelsang placed 86th and 98th, respectively, in career best times. Sparr completed the 6K in 24:50.4 while Vogelsang added a time of 25:06.7.
Overall, Carmen Riano of Miami (Ohio) placed first in the Red Race, finishing the 6K in 19:54.2.
The White Race saw Purdue-Fort Wayne's Madison King claim the crown, crossing the line in 21:36.2.
Next up for the Redhawks will be the 2022 Ohio Valley Conference Championship in Cookeville, Tennessee.
