Kaziska Set to Compete in the NCAA Salt Lake City Regional on Beam and Floor Friday

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Junior Anna Kaziska will represent Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics Friday on beam and floor at the 2021 NCAA Salt Lake City Regional held at the Maverik Center.
Kaziska will compete on beam and floor in the first session of the second round of the 2021 NCAA Salt Lake City Regional held at the University of Utah in West Valley City, Utah at 2 p.m., CT. She will rotate with Boise State and perform her floor routine in the first rotation and compete on beam in the final rotation.
The 2021 NCAA Salt Lake City Regional will be streamed live on ESPN3.
Kaziska will make her second career NCAA Regional appearance in Salt Lake City. She qualified for the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional in 2019 as a freshman and scored a 9.825 on floor (t-17th).
Kaziska most recently earned All-Midwest Independent Conference honors on vault and floor at the 2021 MIC Championships held on March 19 in Normal, Illinois. She finished fourth overall on floor at the Championships with a 9.850 and compiled a 9.650 on beam.
The junior from Louisville, Kentucky, ranks first in the MIC for beam with a National Qualifying Score of 9.863 (T-23rd in the South Central Region). She also was second in the league on floor, accumulating a NQS of 9.888 (T-15th in the South Central Region) in 2021.
Kaziska led the Redhawks in 2021 with 10 individual event titles during the regular-season. The junior from Louisville, Kentucky, has posted 15 scores of 9.700 or higher, competing on vault, beam and floor for the Redhawks.
Kaziska registered career-bests of 9.900 on beam and 9.925 on floor in 2021. After posting her seventh career 9.875 on Feb. 26, Kaziska cracked the SEMO balance beam record book standings on March 12. She now ranks tied for fifth all-time in program history on the event with a career-high 9.900.
Kaziska won the floor title on Feb. 28 with a career-best 9.925 in the final rotation of the dual. Kaziska's previous career-high on floor was a 9.900, which she had registered three times prior. The 9.925 puts Kaziska tied for seventh all-time in SEMO history for floor.
On floor in 2021, Kaziska did not register a mark lower then 9.800 and posted consecutive 9.875s on Feb. 22 and Feb. 26. She concluded the regular season with her career-best 9.925 on Feb. 28 and a 9.900 in the regular-season finale on March 12. On beam, she has surpassed 9.800 five times in 2021.
Kaziska has earned MIC Gymnast of the Week (Jan. 20) and MIC Performance of the Week (Feb. 24) in 2021.
No. 6–ranked Utah is the host institution in a regional that also includes #3 LSU, #11 Arizona State, #14 Kentucky, Boise State, Southern Utah, Utah State, Temple and Arizona.
Ariana Castrene of Temple, Skylar Killough-Wilhelm of Washington, Tara Kofmehl of Northern Illinois will compete as all-arounders.
Geneva Thompson, Amara Cunningham and Allie Smith of Washington, Deja Chambliss of George Washington, Julianna Roland of Temple, Malia Hargrove of Arizona are vault specialists.
Natalie Hamp of Northern Illinois, Geneva Thompson of Washington, Alexandra Fochler of Bowling Green will compete on the uneven bars as specialists.
The beam specialists are Jessica Castles and Sirena Linton of Arizona, Amara Cunningham of Washington, Kaziska of SEMO
The five specialists for the floor are Amara Cunningham (Washington), Faith Leary and Julianna Roland (Temple), Kaziska (SEMO) and Malia Hargrove (Arizona).
The top two teams and the top all-around competitor (who is not on an advancing team) from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the national championships. In addition, the top event specialist at each regional site who is not part of an advancing team or all-around competitor, will advance to the national championships in that event only.
The national championships will take place April 16-17 in Fort Worth, Texas, at Dickies Arena. Texas Woman's University and Knight Eady will host the championship event. The top two teams from the Athens and Morgantown regionals will compete in the first semifinal, and the top two teams from the Salt Lake City and Tuscaloosa regionals will compete in the second semifinal.
