Redhawks Continue 2020-21 Campaign in the Music City at Belmont Tuesday
Southeast Missouri women's soccer (1-0-0, 1-0-0 OVC) travels to the Music City Tuesday to take on Belmont (1-1-0, 1-1-0 OVC) in Nashville, Tennessee. Kick off is set for 6:30 p.m., CT at E.S. Rose Park.

The Redhawks opened their 2019 conference schedule with a 2-1 victory over the Bruins on Sept. 20, 2019 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Jennifer Brien and Cassidi Tomsu each scored in the win.

Scouting the Bruins
Belmont split its opening week of competition. The Bruins overcame Jacksonville State, 2-1, in overtime on March 2 in Jacksonville, Alabama, before dropping a 1-0 decision to UT Martin on March 5 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Keely Cartrett scored the game-winning golden goal three minutes into overtime against JSU, scoring off a free kick assist from Rachel Vernon. Avery Nowak tied the contest at 1-1 in the 78th minute. Goalkeeper Sarah Doyle collected nine saves in her first career start in the net.

Doyle added six saves in the loss to UTM on March 5.

Belmont was selected to finish the 2020-21 season fifth and earned two first-place votes. Forward Julie Garst was selected to the preseason OVC team.

SEMO beat Jacksonville State, 3-1, last Friday at Houck Field to secure its first victory of the 2020-21 season.

Freshman
Emma Brune, a Saxony Lutheran graduate, made her first career start last Friday against JSU. Brune is the eighth member of her family to compete athletically for SEMO athletics.Â
Nadiia Ivanchenko, a Lviv, Ukraine native, also made her first career start and finished with an assist and three shots (two on goal).
Kiana Khedoo, a freshman from Brampton, Ontario, Canada, blasted a goal right before the half in her first collegiate contest.
Maddie Paulson and
Faith Liljegren also both made their Redhawk debuts in the win.

OVC Preseason Poll
SEMO, the 2019 Ohio Valley Conference Regular-Season Champions, were picked to finish the 2020-21 season second in the OVC. Forward
Megan Heisserer was named to the 2020-21 OVC Players Watch List.

The Redhawks received seven first-place votes and 172 points in the projected order of finish for second behind Murray State (181 points, five first-place votes).

Heisserer, a sophomore from Scott City, Missouri, was named to her first career OVC preseason team. The Notre Dame High School alum, played in all 17 games during her inaugural collegiate season, starting in eight. Heisserer tallied four goals and two assists for 10 points last season including a pair of game-winning goals. She was third on the team with 30 shots.

2019 OVC Regular-Season Champs Recap
The 2019 Redhawks fashioned an 11-5-1 mark, tallying a record of 8-1-1 in conference play to win their sixth OVC regular-season crown in program history and first outright title since 2011.

SEMO was undefeated at home with a 7-0 record at Houck Field in 2019 and entered the 2019 OVC Tournament with a mark of 6-0-1. Head Coach
