Redhawks Host Saint Louis and UT Martin in Hidden Dual Sunday

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's tennis will continue its 2021 fall slate with a hidden dual Sunday against Saint Louis and UT Martin. SEMO will face SLU at 9 a.m., CT at the Redhawks Tennis Complex before concluding the day against Ohio Valley Conference rival, UTM, at 3 p.m.
The hidden dual will feature eight singles flights and four doubles flights. Doubles will open competition Sunday followed by singles matches.
Saint Louis will face UT Martin at noon during SEMO's break from competition.
SEMO most recently competed at the Central Arkansas Fall Tournament this past Sunday and Monday (Oct. 3-4) in Conway, Arkansas. Myroslava Zelenchuk captured the Flight 5 singles championship in her second-career fall tournament while Lera Valeeva won the seventh singles draw.
Daniela Hlacikova and Ksenia Shikanova each had a pair of wins at the two-day tournament in the second and fourth singles flights.
Vivian Lai, Teona Velkoska, and Manuela Barriga also each picked up victories for the Redhawks in the singles tournament.
The Redhawks secured five victories in the doubles portion of the tournament. Hlacikova and Zelenchuk competed in the second doubles flight, earning a pair of victories over Louisiana Tech.
At the first Flight, the doubles teams of Romana Tarajova and Teona Velkoska as well Shikanova and Valeeva each registered a win.
Rounding out the doubles portion of the tournament in Flight No. 3 was Lai and Barriga securing victories over Missouri State and the combined team from Arkansas State.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENETS
SAINT LOUIS
The Billikens last competed at the Redbird Invite in Normal, Illinois, Sept. 17-19.
Elizabeth Mintusova won both singles and doubles titles at the Invite to lead Saint Louis. Mintusova captured the first singles title and the second doubles flight with Norhan Hesham.
Six of the nine Billikens competing in the singles portion of the Invite reached the semifinals.
UT MARTIN
The Skyhawks last competed at the North Alabama Fall Tournament in Florence, Alabama, Sept. 24-25.
The Skyhawks went 14-for-27 overall in the singles flights and 5-4 record in doubles at the tournament. Sina Albersmeier, Mizuki Sakurai, and Ariadna Ondo were responsible for six of the Skyhawks' nine victories in the singles portion of the tournament. The team went 9-3 against North Alabama and Alabama A&M.
Sina Albersmeier did not lose a set in singles or doubles over the entire weekend in four matches.
LOOKING AHEAD
SEMO will next compete at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Ohio Valley Regionals October 21-24 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
