Jackson Records First Career Goal as Redhawks Fall to UT Martin Sunday

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Natalie Jackson registered her first career goal as a Redhawk Sunday as Southeast Missouri women's soccer (3-8-0, 0-3-0 OVC) dropped a 4-1 decision to UT Martin (7-3-1, 3-0-0 OVC) at Houck Field.
 
UTM scored three unanswered goals in the second half to take the win.
 
Jackson, a defender from O'Fallon, Missouri, evened the game at 1-1 with her first career goal in the 23rd minute Sunday.
 
She converted a feed from Maddie Paulson. Kate Daus passed her corner kick to Paulson who took a shot from distance that was poked to Jackson who was one-on-one with the goalkeeper. 
 
Paulson was credited with her first career assist on the play.
 
Jackson played in all 90 minutes on defense and led the team in shots with one on goal.
 
UT Martin took an initial lead with a goal from Emely van der Vliet in the 18th minute.
 
van der Vliet paced the Skyhawks with four shots on goal in 83 minutes of action.
 
SEMO and the Skyhawks went to the break tied at 1-1.
 
UTM led shots 7-1 including 6-1 in shots on goal at halftime. The Skyhawks would conclude the contest with an advantage of 14-2 and 11 shots on target.
 
Bailey Redden made five saves in the first half and finished with seven.
 
Erica Myers tallied a save for the win.
 
The Skyhawks continued the offensive pressure in the second half with seven shots and three goals.
 
Jill Hildreth netted the game winner in the 58th minute. Brooke Kala and Jaden Hildreth added insurance goals in the 65th and 67th minutes, respectively.
 
Jill Hildreth compiled a goal and an assist on two shots on goal Sunday.
 
Zoey Memmel recorded the lone SEMO shot in the second half at 77:09. She finished with 40 minutes on the turf with a shot on goal in her first game back since Sept. 5 at Indiana.
 
UTM led corner kick opportunities, 7-2.
 
Lexi Grote also played in all 90 minutes on the backline with Jackson.

Emma Brune competed in 64 minutes, snapping her streak of playing every minute of regulation at 22-straight games dating back to this past spring's 2020-21 season.
 
Kamryn Chappell, Catey Hunt and Parker Gelinas played in the full 90 for UTM.
 
Taylor Nelson was booked with a yellow card in the 74th minute.
 
The Redhawks next travel to Clarksville, Tennessee, to take on Austin Peay on Oct. 10. First kick is slated for 1 p.m., CT at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field.
