MURRAY, Ky. – Southeast Missouri (5-4, 3-1 OVC) dropped its first Ohio Valley Conference match of the season to Murray State (6-5, 3-0 OVC), 5-0, Sunday.
The Racers scored early and often as the first goal of the game came just 44 seconds into play. Rebecca Kubin scored off a pass from Miyah Watford to make it a 1-0 game.
Murray State scored again just shy of the 10-minute mark on Arianna Mendez's first goal of the season.
Kubin scored her second goal to push the Racers lead to 3-0 just 11 minutes in.
The Racers continued to add to their lead when Watford scored at the 66th minute off a pass from Emma Heise. Murray State then completed its shutout with one last goal in the 80th minute.
With the win, Murray State tied SEMO for first in the OVC with nine points in conference play.
SEMO was outshot 24-10 and had only two shots on goal to MSU's 16. Sophomore
Bailey Redden made 10 saves on the day, one shy of her career-high.
The Redhawks return to Houck Field to host SIUE on Oct. 3.
