CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Esmie Gonzales scored the game-winning goal in the 67th minute to send Southeast Missouri (5-3-0, 3-0-0) to a 2-1 victory over Austin Peay (1-5-3, 0-1-1) Friday night at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field.
The Redhawks picked up their third-straight win and first road victory in conference play.
SEMO struck first less than three minutes into the contest when Cassidi Tomsu scored. The goal marked Tomsu's third of the season as she stands tied for first on the team with Megan Heisserer in goals.
The Governors managed to tie the game in the 62nd minute with a goal by Rachel Bradberry.
However, five minutes later, Gonzales scored the game-winner. Gonzales now has 26 goals and 12 game-winning goals in her career.
Both teams went back-and-forth. SEMO edged APSU, 14-13, in shots and held a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal. Bailey Redden finished with three saves.
Megan Heisserer led SEMO with three shots, while Gonzales and Emily Holten followed close behind with two apiece.
Anna McPhie and Claire Larose each took four shots and combined for three shots on goal for the Governors.
OVC leader SEMO returns to action at rival Murray State Sunday.
