Redhawks Head to Central Arkansas for Second Fall Tournament

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's tennis continues its fall 2019 schedule at the Central Arkansas (UCA) Fall Invitational Friday and Saturday in Conway, Arkansas.
Romana Tarajova and Manuela Barriga will look to defend their Flight B Doubles Championship that they won at the 2018 edition of the tournament. As freshmen last season, the duo posted a perfect 3-0 record with wins over Oral Roberts, Arkansas State and Central Arkansas.
Tarajova was also the Flight B Runner-up at UCA's 2018 Invitational while Barriga and Teona Velkoska each advanced to the third/fourth places matches in the D and E Flights, respectively.
The Redhawks opened the 2019 fall season at the Austin Peay Fall Invitational Sept. 13-14 in Clarksville, Tennessee.
Velkoska teamed up with freshman Vivian Lai to take the Flight 2 Doubles title with victories over Belmont, Murray State and Western Kentucky at the APSU Fall Invitational. Tarajova finished second in the top singles draw.
Lai and Velkoska also notched singles wins in the first and second singles flights.
After the UCA Fall Invitational, Southeast hosts William Woods in a doubleheader on Oct. 5 at the Redhawks Tennis Complex. SEMO competes agiants the Owls at 9 a.m. and noon on Oct. 5. The Redhawks then head to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, for the 2019 ITA Central Regional Oct. 17-22.
SEMO caps off its fall slate with the Stetson Invitational Nov 1-3 in Deland, Florida.
