MOREHEAD, Ky. – Southeast Missouri's hopes of making this year's Ohio Valley Conference Tournament ended with an 8-3 loss to Morehead State Friday.
SEMO's league record of 24-consecutive OVC Tournament appearances is over as the Redhawks dropped their ninth conference series of the season.
MSU used a five-run second inning to key its series-clinching victory.
Stephen Hill delivered a RBI-single and Connor Pauley had a two-RBI hit. Dom Peroni also homered and Jon Burghardt added a run-scoring single to put MSU on top, 6-2.
A one-out home run by Andrew Keck made it a 6-3 game in the top of the fourth inning, but that was the last time the Redhawks scored.
MSU tacked on another run in the sixth and scored once more in the eighth to cap its win.
Jason Goe (6-2) picked up the win. Goe allowed two runs on three hits. Cory Conway was credited with his third save of the season.
Austin Sachse (5-6) suffered the loss. Sachse walked two, struck out one and allowed six runs on seven hits in two innings.
MSU outhit SEMO, 11-7. Hunter Fain led the Eagles by going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a double out of the nine-hole.
Danny Wright and Hunter Southerland each led SEMO with two hits.
SEMO missed making the OVC Tournament for the first time since 1994.
The Redhawks close out their season with one more game against the Eagles at Noon, CT, Saturday.
