Redhawks Tied for First in OVC

Series History
The Redhawks are 70-22 all-time against Austin Peay and trail Murray State, 17-7. Southeast Missouri's 70 wins against the Governors are its most versus any opponent in program history. The Redhawks are 5-1 in their last six meetings with APSU. SEMO also holds a 34-10 record against the Governors in Cape Girardeau. The Redhawks split a doubleheader with APSU and swept MSU last season.

Thogmartin Deals
Senior Haley Thogmartin is 4-0 with a staggering 0.45 ERA through six appearances and five starts in Ohio Valley Conference play. Thogmartin has not allowed an earned run in her last four appearances (21.1 innings). She has tossed three complete games with 27 strikeouts to only three walks in 31.1 innings against league foes. Thogmartin's 0.45 ERA is second-lowest behind Murray State's Ellison Morris (0.00) and Jacksonville State's Reagan Watkins (0.00) in conference games.

Shutout Victories
Southeast Missouri posted back-to-back shutouts for the second time this season when it blanked UT Martin, 1-0, 6-0, on Apr. 10. The Redhawks have a total of nine shutout victories this season, most since they reached that same number in 2005.

That Was Fast
The Redhawks became the quickest team in the Ohio Valley Conference to get 30 wins when they beat UT Martin, 1-0, 6-0, on Apr. 10. Southeast Missouri, after going 33-20 in 2018, posted 30 or more wins in consecutive  seasons for the first time since 1999 (31-17) and 2000 (31-24). SEMO now has a total of seventeen 30-win seasons in program history. The Redhawks 30th victory in 2019 came 18 days earlier than it did a year ago (16-8, vs. Tennessee State, Apr. 28, 2018).

What's the Record?
Southeast Missouri's record for most wins in a season during its NCAA Division I era stands at 39 during the 1996 campaign. The record for most wins in a season in program history is 40 during the 1986 season.

Home Winning Streak
Southeast Missouri is on an eight-game home winning streak dating back to last season. The Redhawks are 3-0 at the Southeast Softball Complex this year and have not lost on their home diamond since Apr. 17, 2018 (4-0, vs. UT Martin).

Coming Up On 100
Pitcher Haley Thogmartin is five strikeouts away from getting 100 this season. Thogmartin's 95 strikeouts currently rank sixth in the Ohio Valley Conference. To date, she has not reached 100 strikeouts in a season during her career.

Ellis Cranks 10th Home Run
First baseman Ashley Ellis clobbered her 10th home run of the season to straightaway center in Southeast Missouri's 6-0 win over UT Martin (Apr. 10). Ellis, who ranks tied for seventh on SEMO's all-time single-season list and fifth among the school's career leaders in home runs, is one of five Ohio Valley Conference players with 10 or more bombs this year. The others include Austin Peay's Danielle Liermann (14), Jacksonville State's Anna Chisolm (12) and Taylor Bashears (12), and Eastern Kentucky's Hannah Clark (10).

On Target
Southeast Missouri is in position to have two players reach double-digit home runs this year. Ashley Ellis paves the way with 10 and Rachel Anderson follows close behind with nine. SEMO has not had two players get 10 or more home runs in a season in 12 years. Michelle Summers (14) and Stacia Dopudja (12) were the last to accomplish the feat in 2007. The 2007 club holds the all-time school record with 57 home runs.

Arellanes Goes Off
In her last two doubleheaders, right fielder Mykaela Arellanes hit .563 (9-for-16) with nine runs scored, three doubles, three home runs and six RBI. Arellanes carries a five-game hitting streak into the weekend. She ranks third on the team in batting average (.387), first in runs scored (43) and second in hits (48) this year.

Redhawks Sweep OVC Honors
Southeast Missouri swept the Ohio Valley Conference weekly softball honors for the first time in nine years on Apr. 8. Junior Rachel Anderson was named OVC Player of the Week and senior Haley Thogmartin was voted OVC Pitcher of the Week unanimously. SEMO last swept the awards on Feb. 15, 2010 when Renee Kertz secured OVC Player of the Week and Whitney Dupuis took OVC Pitcher of the Week accolades. A native of Edwardsville, Illinois, Anderson had another huge week leading SEMO to a 3-1 record. She hit .750 (9-for-12) with four runs scored, four doubles, two home runs and five RBI in four starts. Anderson also drew five walks and stole two bases. She boasted a 1.583 slugging percentage and .824 on-base percentage as well. Anderson went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, a double, two home runs, three walks, four RBI and two stolen bases in SEMO's doubleheader sweep of Eastern Kentucky (Apr. 1). She raised her batting average to .505 and is tied for second in the nation in that category. Thogmartin, who hails from St. Louis, was outstanding in the circle going 2-0 with a save and a pair of complete game victories. She did not allow an earned run in three appearances and two starts. Thogmartin began the week going 1-0 with a save in the Redhawks doubleheader sweep of Eastern Kentucky (Apr. 1). She recorded a career-high 10 strikeouts to get the win in game one. Thogmartin then got the final out when EKU had the go-ahead run at the plate to nail down her second save of the season. Five days later, Thogmartin tossed another complete game victory with six strikeouts against SIU Edwardsville (Apr. 6). She is 12-3 with a 1.74 ERA this year. Both Anderson and Thogmartin won their respective awards for the second time in 2019.

Anderson Fifth Nationally in Batting Average
Center fielder Rachel Anderson is hitting .491 through 39 games this season. Anderson is fifth in the nation in batting average behind UMass Lowell's Courtney Cashman (.588), Wisconsin's Kayla Konwent (.505), UCLA's Kelli Godin (.500) and Kentucky's Abbey Cheek (.495).

Career-High in Wins
Haley Thogmartin (13-3) won her 13th game in the circle this season when she beat UT Martin (Apr. 10). The 13 wins are Thogmartin's most in a season during her college career. This year is the second-straight where Thogmartin recorded 10 victories. She has won in each of her last seven starts. Thogmartin owns a career record of 35-22 at SEMO.

50 Conference Wins
Mark Redburn picked up his 50th career Ohio Valley Conference win when Southeast Missouri beat Eastern Kentucky on Apr. 1. It was SEMO's 14th doubleheader sweep in OVC play with Redburn at the helm.

First to 50 Hits
Rachel Anderson became the first Ohio Valley Conference player to reach 50 hits this season with her strong performance against Eastern Kentucky (Apr. 1). Anderson officially collected her 50th hit on a double in the sixth inning in game one of the doubleheader. She has 57 hits for an average of 1.5 per contest. Anderson has a total of 176 hits in her career.

Thogmartin Sets New Career-High
Pitcher Haley Thogmartin recorded a career-high 10 strikeouts in a complete game victory over Eastern Kentucky (Apr. 1). Thogmartin became the first Southeast Missouri pitcher to strike out 10 or more in a game since Keaira Schilling fanned 11 vs. Grambling State on Feb. 16, 2014. She leads the Redhawks with 95 strikeouts this season and 232 in her career. Thogmartin ranks eighth all-time in career strikeouts at SEMO.

Brooke Nett  (14 in 2001; 35 from 2000-03) presently holds both of those records.

Two RBI Away
Rachel Anderson needs two more RBI to get 100 in her Southeast Missouri career. If Anderson accomplishes that feat, it will mark the fourth different statistical category where she has reached 100. She also accumulated over 100 runs (106), 150 hits (176) and 130 starts (142) in a Redhawk uniform.
