Redhawks Split Pair of Dual Meets Sunday in Jackson, Mississippi

JACKSON, Miss. – Southeast Missouri women's tennis (6-5) split its pair of dual meets Sunday at the JSU Tennis Center. Southeast fell to Louisiana-Monroe (4-1), 4-2, before responding with a 4-1 victory over Jackson State (3-12). 
 
Kseniya Zonova and Sneha Sinha both recorded 3-0 singles and doubles marks Sunday against ULM and Jackson State. In singles, Zonova and Sinha each extended their win streaks to four and as a doubles team they have won their past two contests.
 
Louisiana-Monroe opened the noon dual by taking the doubles point with wins at the third and second positions.
 
When the meet switched to singles, Zonova evened the tilt at 1-1 with a 6-2, 6-4 defeat of Teodora Radu at the no. 2 position.
 
Sinha then pushed the Redhawks advantage to 2-1 when she overcame Florencia Salerno, 6-3, 6-2, at the sixth slot.
 
The Warhawks then rallied off three straight victories at fifth, third and fourth singles to claim the dual win.
 
Southeast then faced Jackson State in a 3 p.m. meeting Sunday. Zonova and Sinha started the dual with a 6-0 win at the top doubles position before the Tigers answered with victories at the third and second slots to earn the doubles point.
 
Zonova knotted the dual at 1-1 when she beat Oni Jones, 6-1, 6-3, at the second singles position.
 
Manuela Barriga then achieved her second straight dual singles win when she ousted Ariel Dickson, 6-4, 6-0, at no. 6 singles.
 
Teona Velkoska beat Lucia Placidi, 6-2, 6-2, at the fourth position to extend the advantage to 3-1.
 
Sinha then sealed the dual victory when she fought past Lily Zhang, 6-2, 7-5, at the fifth slot.
 
The Redhawks next take on Loyola New Orleans Tuesday at 2 p.m. in "The Big Easy" at the City Park Pepsi Tennis Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
