2019 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament
Southeast Missouri is tied for sixth with SIU Edwardsville, Jacksonville State and Murray State. The Redhawks own the tiebreaker over the Cougars, but not over the Gamecocks and Racers. The OVC Tournament takes only the top eight teams and SEMO is in the hunt for one of those spots. The Redhawks will face Belmont who has clinched the regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the tournament. The 2019 OVC Tournament will be held in Evansville, Indiana and begins Mar. 6. All men's and women's games will be held at the Ford Center.

Series History
Belmont holds the 9-4 edge in the all-time series against Southeast Missouri, including a 91-57 victory at home earlier this season. The Bruins have won five in a row overall in the series.

How We Got Here

The Redhawks are currently 13-15 and 8-9 in Ohio Valley Conference play. Southeast Missouri had a three-game winning streak come to an end with a 91-57 setback at Belmont. SEMO swept SIUE with a 65-62 win in Edwardsville (Jan. 3) and 63-58 victory in Cape Girardeau (Jan. 24). It was the fifth OVC sweep under head coach Rekha Patterson and first against SIUE since 2013-14. SEMO recently defeated Tennessee State 81-54, the largest victory in conference play thus far.

Scouting the Bruins

The Bruins are 22-6 overall and 15-2 in OVC play. On the road, Belmont is 11-4 and recently fell to UT Martin in overtime, 71-68, on Feb. 28. OVC Preseason Player of the Year, Darby Maggard, averages 17.1 points per game. Ellie Harmeyer averages 16.8 points and 9.1 rebounds per game for the Bruins as well. The Bruins are coming off the second loss in conference play this season, but have already secured the No. 1 seed in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. Belmont will play the No. 8 seed Wednesday evening in Evansville, Indiana.
