CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.–
Gabe McGlothan finished with a double-double 13 points and 10 rebounds as Southeast Missouri (8-17, 3-9) fell to Jacksonville State (17-8, 9-3), 81-64, Saturday at the Show Me Center.
JSU heated up to make eight of its first 10 field goals of the game and built a 16-7 lead less than six minutes in. Detrick Mostella's 3-pointer capped the early surge for the Gamecocks.
After
Ledarrius Brewer's 3-pointer cut JSU's lead to 16-13 at the 13:10 mark, the Gamecocks answered with a 14-2 run to build a 15-point advantage.
JSU later headed into the locker room with a 42-28 lead at the intermission.
SEMO scored the first six points of the second half on layups by
Nygal Russell and
Jonathan Dalton, and a jumper by Brewer to quickly narrowed JSU's lead to 42-34.
The Redhawks pulled to within eight once more, but that was as close as they would get.
Ty Hudson's 3-pointer gave JSU its largest lead at 81-61 with 36 seconds left in the contest.
McGlothan polished off his second-straight double-double by shooting 6-of-12 from the field. It was his team-high third double-double of the season.
Brewer followed with 11 points and
Alex Caldwell pitched in 10 off the bench.
Isaiah Gable also added seven rebounds and five assists for the Redhawks who shot 37.1 percent (26-of-70) from the field for the game.
Marlon Hunter keyed JSU with a double-double 27 points and 12 boards. Detrick Mostella chipped in 15 points and Christian Cunningham tallied 14 rebounds.
JSU shot 50 percent (17-of-34) in the first half and 46.9 (30-of-64) in the contest. The Gamecocks buried 11 three-pointers with five coming from Hunter.
SEMO begins a season-long four-game road stretch at UT Martin on Feb. 14.
