O'FALLON, Ill. - Romana Tarajova and
Teona Velkoska each captured singles victories Friday but Southeast Missouri women's tennis (0-3) was edged by Saint Louis (1-3), 4-3, at the St. Clair Tennis Club.

The Redhawks earned their first doubles point of the 2019 dual season with two wins to open the dual against SLU. Tarajova and
Manuela Barriga defeated Alana Bourgeois and Mika Misgav, 6-1, at the no. 3 position. The win marked the first career dual doubles win for both Tarajova and Barriga.

Ariana Rodriguez and Alba Salinas then outlasted
Isabella Krupa and Velkoska, 7-6, at the second doubles slot to give each team a doubles win.

Kseniya Zonova and
Sneha Sinha then captured the doubles point for SEMO with a decisive 7-6 win over Cassie McKenzie and Ally McKenzie.

Velkoska extended the Redhawks lead in the dual to 2-0 with her first career singles dual win, a 6-1, 6-2, decision over Misgav at the fourth slot.

The Billikens then evened the meet at the sixth and fifth singles slots. Salinas beat Barriga, 6-1, 7-5, and Rodriguez defeated Sneha, 6-3, 7-5.

Tarajova then recorded her second career dual singles win. She fought past Cassie McKenzie, 6-4, 7-5, at the top singles position to bring the advantage back in favor of SEMO, 3-2.

Saint Louis claimed the dual with two, three-set victories at the third and second spots.

Krupa took the opening set on Mariluz Rojo, 6-3, before Rojo answered with 6-2, 6-3 marks in the second and third sets.

Zonova also won the first set in her second singles match, 6-4, before her opponent, Ally McKenzie, notched back-to-back sets of 6-4.

Southeast next ventures to Springfield, Missouri, for a pair of dual meets against Missouri State and Nebraska-Omaha on Friday, Feb. 15 and Saturday, Feb. 16.
