Southeast Missouri opened Ohio Valley Conference play with a 4-1 record and is sitting in second place behind Murray State in the league standings. The Redhawks continue conference action when they head to Eastern Kentucky (Oct. 11) and Morehead State (Oct. 13) this weekend. Watch the Redhawks live on ESPN+. No OVC school had a winning record entering the start of conference play. SEMO won four of its first five league contests to get 12 points. The Redhawks improved to 8-8-5 all-time in OVC openers and were off to a 3-0 start in conference play for the first time in eight years.

Series History vs. EKU
The Redhawks lead their all-time series against EKU, 8-3-3. The last meeting between these teams took place at Houck Field where both teams battled to a 1-1 tie on Sept. 27, 2018. The Redhawks are 3-1-2 all-time in Richmond, Kentucky, with the last trip there ending in a 1-1 tie as well.
Scouting EKU
EKU is 4-9 this season with a 2-3 mark in conference play. Audrey Anderson leads the Colonels with 21 shots and 13 shots on goal. Anderson has three goals, second best on team. Goalkeeping duties have been split between both Billie Clark (2-5-0) and Zoe Aguirre (2-4-0). Both goalies have allowed nine goals so far and have a combined 55 saves. EKU has beat both Jacksonville State (Sept. 20) and Eastern Illinois (Sept. 27) by a 1-0 decision. Recently, the Colonels took Murray State to double overtime, only to fall 2-1 on Oct. 6.
Series History vs. Morehead State
The Redhawks lead their all-time series against Morehead State, 12-6-5. The last meeting between the two was on Sept. 30 when the Redhawks defeated the Eagles, 2-0, at Houck Field. The Eagles and the Redhawks have tied the last two games in Morehead.
Scouting Morehead State
The Eagles are 4-8-1 overall this year, with a 2-2-1 mark in conference play. Morehead State recorded 1-0 victories over both Jacksonville State (Sept. 22) and Belmont (Sept. 27). Nicole Palmer leads the Eagles with two goals, an assist, 20 shots and two game-winning goals. Time is split in the goal for MSU between Kayla Landman and Grace Gaffney. Landman has allowed 16 goals, made 53 saves and has two shutouts in seven starts. Gaffey allowed eight goals and has 21 saves in six starts.
Redden Named OVC Goalkeeper of the Week
Bailey Redden was named the OVC's Goalkeeper of the Week on Oct. 7. Redden recorded 14 saves for the week, allowing just one goal in 197 minutes in net. She recorded her second shutout of the season against regional-rival Southern Illinois.
Succeeding In the Classroom
Southeast Missouri ranked 13th in the nation out of nearly 650 teams in grade point average after posting a 3.66 GPA for the 2018-19 academic year according to the United Soccer Coaches. SEMO had five student-athletes receive the OVC Medal of Honor with 4.0 GPAs.

Morgan McCourt were those individuals.There were 20 women's soccer student-athletes honored on the Commissioner's Honor Roll after posting at least a 3.25 GPA in one season of competition.
Record Year
Esmie Gonzales earned First-Team All-OVC honors in back-to-back seasons. Gonzales ranks among Southeast Missouri's top five career leaders in goals (4th, 26), points (5th, 62), and shots on goal (3rd, 96). The Fort Worth, Texas native holds the record for shots (207) and is tied for first in game-winning goals (12). The 2019 campaign marks the final season for Gonzales.
Heisserer Hot Start
Freshman
Megan Heisserer is off to a hot start in a Redhawks uniform. In exhibition play, the Scott City, Missouri native had a goal and an assist. So far this season, Heisserer has three goals and an assist on 20 shots.
Let's Recap
The Redhawks are 7-4 with wins over Southern Mississippi (3-2) and Evansville (2-1) in non-conference play. SEMO defeated Belmont (2-1), Eastern Illinois (1-0), Austin Peay (2-1), and SIUE (2-1) in OVC action. SEMO dropped matches to SEC opponents Ole Miss (2-0) and Arkansas (5-0), and fell to Arkansas State (1-0) and Murray State (5-0). Looking Ahead
After this weekend's contests, the Redhawks continue OVC play when they travel to UT Martin (Oct. 20) for their only game of the week. SEMO will then host Jacksonville State (Oct. 25) and Tenenssee Tech (Oct. 27) in the final week of conference play.
