Southeast Hosts William Woods in Fall Doubleheader Saturday

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's tennis hosts William Woods of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Saturday in a doubleheader meet at the Redhawks Tennis Complex.
The first dual match will start at 9 a.m. followed by the second dual match at noon. Both duals will feature three doubles and six singles matches.
The doubleheader of tennis action Saturday is free and open to the public.
Southeast returns home after starting the fall season on the road with a pair of tournaments. The Redhawks most recently competed at the Central Arkansas Fall Invitational this past weekend in Conway, Arkansas.
At the UCA Fall Invitational, Romana Tarajova, Manuela Barriga and Vivian Lai each won championships in their respective flights.
Tarajova and Barriga teamed up to win the Flight 2 Doubles Championship and have now won three fall doubles titles after grabbing two last fall as freshmen.
Lai captured the Flight 3 Singles title for her second career fall tournament title. She opened the season with a Flight 2 Doubles title with Teona Velkoska.
Sneha Sinha finished third in the flight 3 singles draw at the UCA Fall Invitational.
Maja Lundell and Grace Powderly were the runners-up in the third doubles flight.
Barriga was also third in the flight four singles draw.
Powderly posted a second round victory in the fifth singles flight to grab third.
After the home doubleheader, the Redhawks will head to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Regional Oct. 17-22. Southeast concludes its fall season at the Stetson Invitational Nov. 1-3 in Deland, Florida.
