MARTIN, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri (9-4-1, 6-1-1) and UT Martin (6-5-5, 4-2-2) battled to a 2-2 double overtime draw Sunday.
SEMO trailed by a goal when Esmie Gonzales evened the score at 2-2 at the 66-minute mark. Gonzales' fourth goal of the season sent the game to overtime.
Both teams dueled to a 1-1 deadlock at the half.
Bella Roberts scored the game's first goal off an assist by Alice Adams 23 minutes in.
SEMO's Hailey Block scored on a penalty kick to tie the game less than two minutes later.
Another penalty kick goal, this time by Catey Hunt, gave the Skyhawks a 2-1 edge at the 48:54 mark before Gonzales gave the game its second tie.
Statistically both SEMO and UTM were nearly even in four categories. The Skyhawks had more shots (28-27) and fouls (15-14) than the Redhawks, while each team finished with 10 saves and 12 shots on goal.
Bailey Redden had all 10 of SEMO's saves, including four in the overtime periods. Block (6), Gonzales (5) and Megan Heisserer (5) combined for 16 of the Redhawks 27 shots.
SEMO remains at the top of the Ohio Valley Conference standings with 19 points, while Murray State is close behind with 18.
The Redhawks close out regular season play at home when they host Jacksonville State (Oct. 25) and Tennessee Tech (Oct. 27).
