Redhawks Unable to Catch Morehead State in 82-54 Loss

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Southeast Missouri (7-9, 2-3 OVC) was unable to keep up with Morehead State (12-6, 3-2 OVC) in an 82-54 loss Thursday night at Johnson Arena.
 
Kennedi Allen recorded a career-high five blocks and Iyanna McCurdy scored a season-best 10 points against MSU which claimed its 12th win of the season.
 
SEMO was outscored, 24-11, in the first quarter and did not score for a period of 4:39. McCurdy made a jumper off a pass from Adrianna Murphy to end the drought.
 
The Redhawks didn't recover after the slow start and couldn't get any closer than 13 points the rest of the way. 
 
Jocelyn Taylor beat the buzzer with a 3-pointer at the end of the third quarter, however, SEMO trailed, 63-44.t
 
The Eagles finished the game with 10-3 run to build their largest lead of the night.

Tesia Thompson led the Redhawk with 16 points, including nine in the game's final quarter. Thompson added a near-perfect 6-of-7 free throws.

SEMO shot just 28.2 percent (20-of-71) from the field to MSU's 48.4 percent (31-of-64) percent clip. 
 
MSU's Aliyah Jeune posted 24 points off the bench. Miranda Crockett (17) and Mckenzie Calvert (11) also scored double figures.
 
SEMO remains on the road to face Eastern Kentucky Saturday.
