Redhawks Venture to Conway, Arkansas, for Central Arkansas Fall Invitational Friday

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's tennis continues its 2018 season at the Central Arkansas Fall Invitational this weekend in Conway, Arkansas, at the Conway Tennis Center.
Due to rain in the forecast for Saturday, Thursday night featured two rounds of the doubles tournament. Doubles will continue the tournament Friday morning followed by the opening rounds of singles.
Sneha Sinha led the Redhawks this past weekend at the Austin Peay Fall Invitational with a runner-up finish in the Flight B Singles Draw. Sinha earned three straight victories over Ohio Valley Conference schools to advance to the championship finals.
Sinha along with Manuela Barriga, Grace Powderly, Romana Tarajova and Teona Velkoska all made their Redhawk debuts this past weekend in Clarksville, Tennessee. Kelly Sicha who joined the team in December of 2017 also competed in her first career collegiate fall tournament.
Barriga and Velkoska both posted 2-1 records and made it to the Flight A Singles Consolation final.
Maja Lundell and Anais Emelie captured the first Redhawks doubles win of 2018 over UTM's Jule Streif and Olha Burak, 6-3, in the Flight B Doubles bracket before falling to Yada Vasupongchai of Qili Ma of UCA, 6-1.
Southeast will compete against Arkansas State, Missouri State, Southeastern Louisiana, Missouri – Kansas City, Louisiana – Monroe and Oral Roberts at the Central Arkansas Fall Invitational.
The Redhawks will have four doubles teams competing this weekend in Velkoska and Isabella Krupa in the Flight A Doubles bracket, Tarajova and Barriga in the Flight B Doubles Draw, and Kseniya Zonova and Sinha along with Emelie and Lundell in the Flight C Doubles Draw.
In singles, Zonova will play in the Flight A Draw Friday at 10 a.m. against Missouri State's Alye Darter. Tarajova will compete in the Flight B bracket and open the tournament versus Flavia Gutierrez of Oral Roberts at 10 a.m.
Krupa will face Mei Ishimura (UCA) at 11:15 a.m. in Flight C Singles. Velkoska will compete in the Flight D Singles Draw and meet Jimena Garbino (ULM) at 11:30 a.m.
Both Barriga and Sinha are in the Flight E Singles Draw. Barriga will take on Amelia Guevremont of Arkansas State and Sinha will face Mara Prescot (Missouri State) at 12:30 p.m.
Lundell and Emelie are both in the Flight F Singles Draw. In the opening round, Lundell competes against Berna Dornieden of SELU and Emelie faces Gilbert (ORU) at 1 p.m.
Powderly will compete in Flight G Singles which is a round robin format. She will open the tournament against SELU's Katya Cornejo.
