EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Southeast Missouri women's tennis (5-13, 2-7 OVC) finished its 2018 regular season with a 6-1 victory over SIUE (0-20, 0-9 OVC) Saturday afternoon indoors at the Edwardsville YMCA.
Southeast captured the doubles point and then won six of seven singles matches on Saturday to beat the Cougars.
After
Alessandra Maya Thompson and
Maja Lundell won the no. 3 doubles match by forfeit,
Isabella Krupa and
Anais Emelie defeated Lara Tupper and Katherine Lahue, 6-3, to earn the doubles point for Southeast.
When the competition switched to singles, Southeast increased their lead to 2-0 with a forfeit win at no. 6 singles.
Lundell bested Anna Talley, 6-0, 6-0 at no. 5 singles and Maya Thompson breezed by Lahue at fourth singles, 6-0, 6-3 to extend SEMO's lead to 4-0.
Kseniya Zonova (20-10, 10-6 duals) then earned her team leading 20th overall victory in 2018 and 10th dual win when she battled past Raillane Kamdem, 1-6, 6-1, 10-1.
SIUE took its lone point in the dual with a win at no. 3 singles.
Oleksandra Doroshenko (19-12, 10-8 duals) also earned her 10th dual win of the campaign to finish the meet. Doroshenko fought past Tupper, 6-2, 7-6, at the top singles position.
Southeast ends the 2018 regular season with a 5-13 overall mark and a 2-7 record in league play.
