OMAHA, Neb. – Kelli Finan's walkoff three-run home run lifted Creighton (9-6) to a 6-3 win over Southeast Missouri (8-8) Friday at the CU Sports Complex.
With two outs and runners at first and second following a single and intentional walk, Finan fell behind 0-2 in the count. She fouled off two pitches before hitting her home run over the left field wall against SEMO reliever
Rachel Rook.
Tied, 2-2, after three innings, the Redhawks pulled ahead by a run in the top of the fourth.
Riley Hayes led things off with a triple down the right field line and later scored on a fielder's choice.
CU battled back to bring the game to a 3-3 deadlock on a bunt single by Sam Crowley in the bottom of the sixth inning.
SEMO went down in order during its at-bat in the top of the seventh.
Madeline Krumrey gave up three runs on nine hits and struck out five in six innings before giving way to Rook in the seventh.
Rook (0-3) scattered two hits, allowed three runs and issued a pair of walks.
Logan Black (3-1) picked up the win in relief. Black gave up just one hit and struck out two in three scoreless innings.
The Bluejays notched 11 hits with Crowley going 3-for-3 to lead the way. Ashley Cantu, Finan and Hope Moreno followed with two hits apiece.
Rachel Anderson went 3-for-4 with a run scored to pace SEMO, which had seven hits.
The Redhawks and Bluejays wrap up their three-game series with a Noon, CT, doubleheader Saturday.
