NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri women's tennis (4-8, 1-2 OVC) split their weekend dual meets in the Music City on Friday and Saturday. The Redhawks fell to Belmont (5-11, 1-3), 5-2, Saturday indoors at the Ensworth HS Tennis Center after capturing their first OVC win of the season over Tennessee State, 4-3, on Friday.
 
After dropping the doubles point, the Redhawks earned singles victories from Kseniya Zonova and Maja Lundell.
 
Zonova took her second straight singles match of the weekend with a 6-1, 6-4 decision over Belmont's Drew Hawkins at no. 2 singles. The win by Zonova evened the dual at 1-1.
 
Terra Sheldon then beat Kelly Sicha, 6-2, 6-2; at the fifth singles position before Maja Lundell snapped a four-game losing streak with her second win in 2018. Lundell ousted Nikki Christiansen, 6-3, 6-3, at the sixth and final singles spot.
 
The first, third and fourth singles matches all went three sets. Oleksandra Doroshenko took the opening set on Maria Plaksina, 6-2, before Plaksina won the next two sets, 7-5, 6-2, at the top singles slot. The loss for Doroshenko ended her winning streak at five matches.
 
Alessandra Maya Thompson also won the first set in her third singles match with Erin Allen, 6-4, before Allen answered with back-to-back sets of 7-5, 7-5.
 
After dropping the first set to Sarah Brackin, 6-4, Anais Emelie then evened the singles action at the no. 4 position when she won the second set, 7-6. Brackin then took the match in the third set, 6-3.
 
Southeast next hosts a pair of conference meets on Friday, March 30 and Saturday, March 31. SEMO takes on Austin Peay Friday at 2 p.m., CT at the Redhawks Tennis Complex and then faces Murray State on Saturday at 12 p.m.
