Redhawks Tennis Faces Saint Louis in Midweek Meet Wednesday

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's tennis (2-4, 0-0 OVC) makes a jaunt to O'Fallon, Missouri, on Wednesday for a midweek matchup with Saint Louis (4-5, 0-0 A-10) at St. Clair Tennis Club. Southeast faces the Billikens at 12 p.m., CT.
"As a team we are focused on the things that are within our control," head coach Mary Beth Gunn said ahead of the dual. "Our attitude, our response, our decision making. We are still focused on treating each non-conference match as a learning experience and an opportunity to get better."
The Redhawks were last in competition against Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on Saturday, Feb. 10. SEMO fell to the Razorbacks, 4-0, after dropping a close meet with Missouri State, 4-3, the day prior.
Freshman Kelly Sicha recorded her first career win as a Redhawk over Missouri State's Abbey Belote, 6-3, 6-0, on Friday, Feb. 9.
With six meets in the books, Oleksandra Doroshenko (2-4) and Kseniya Zonova (2-2) currently lead Southeast with two singles wins each in 2018. Doroshenko has played all of her matches at the top lineup spot and Zonova has split time at the second and third positions.
Anais Emelie, Isabella Krupa, Alessandra Maya Thompson and Sicha each have one win in 2018.
On the doubles side, Doroshenko and Maya Thompson have amassed a 3-3 record in 2018. Krupa and Zonova are second on the Redhawks with a 2-2 dual record. Emelie and Lundell have one dual victory this season.
SLU enters the meeting with a 4-5 overall record after four straight home wins over Quincy, SIUE, Illinois-Springfield and McKendree. The Billikens swept McKendree in their most recent matchup, 7-0, last Saturday.
Head coach Jonathan Zych recorded his 200th victory with SLU on Friday, Feb. 16 against Illinois-Springfield.
