Tennis Falls to Arkansas, 4-0, Saturday in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Southeast Missouri women's tennis (2-4, 0-0 OVC) dropped a 4-0 decision to Arkansas (3-4, 0-0 SEC) of the Southeastern Conference Saturday afternoon at the George M. Billingsley Tennis Center.
The Razorbacks beat Southeast after they took the doubles point with two wins and posted three singles victories.
Oleksandra Doroshenko and Alessandra Maya Thompson fell to Giulia Pairone and Mia Jurasic, 6-0, to start the dual at the second doubles position.
Kseniya Zonova and Kelly Sicha played together in their second-straight meet and moved up to the top doubles slot. Tatum Rice and Ana Oparenovic beat Zonova and Sicha, 6-2, to claim the doubles point for Arkansas.
In the third doubles match, Anais Emelie and Maja Lundell led Peyton Jennings and Myrna Olaya, 5-3, as the first and second doubles matches finished prior to their contest.
On the singles side, the Razorbacks won the match with victories at the third, fourth and first positions. Jurasic defeated Emelie, 6-2, 6-1, to give Arkansas a 2-0 edge at the dual.
Lundell then lost to Natsuho Arakawa at the fourth singles slot, 6-0, 6-2, and #67-ranked Oparenovic beat Doroshenko, 6-2, 6-3.
Zonova and Sicha led their unfinished singles matches at the second and sixth positions. Zonova took the opening set on Rice, 7-6 (7-5), and Sicha had a 6-3, 5-1 edge on Myrna Olaya.
Maya Thompson had split her unfinished no. 5 singles match with Peyton Jennings, 6-2, 1-6.
The Redhawks continue their 2018 season on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 12 p.m. against Saint Louis.
