CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri defeated Lindenwood-Belleville, 82-50, Tuesday night in its final exhibition matchup at the Show Me Center.
SEMO finished exhibition play with a 2-0 record.
Tesia Thompson led five players in double figures with a game-high 15 points and eight rebounds. Thompson also led the Redhawks with four steals.
Taelour Pruitt followed with 13 points,
Adrianna Murphy and
Kennedi Allen each pitched in 11 and
Sarah Balfour added 10.
The Redhawks used an 18-0 run to storm past the Lynx and never looked back. Lindenwood-Belleville did not score a point in the final 2:27 of the first quarter and opening 7:12 of the second period.
Defensively, SEMO forced 30 turnovers and scored 30 points off those miscues. The Redhawks led, 43-23, at the half before cruising to their 32-point victory.
SEMO shot 42 percent (34-of-81) from the field for the night and outrebounded the Lynx by a +17 margin (49-32). Eleven of the 12 Redhawks who played got in the scoring column.
Carrie Shephard tallied two points and two rebounds in her first game action. Shephard missed the 2017-18 season with a knee injury.
SEMO will tip-off its 2018-19 season at national runner-up Mississippi State on Nov. 6. The Redhawks and Bulldogs meet for the first time since 1982.
