CHARLESTON, Ill. – Southeast Missouri wrapped up the season with a 1-1 draw at Eastern Illinois. The Panthers advance to the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament semifinals on penalty kicks.
The Panthers took the lead in the first half with a goal off of a quick pass into the box and shot in off the crossbar.
The Redhawks came out of halftime with a new fire and unloaded six shots in the lone half.
Esmie Gonzales ended the match with six total shots.
Gonzales scored her 10th goal of the season on a cross to the top of the box that was redirected into goal to tie the ball game 1-1 in the 75th minute.
Emily Holten had the assist.
The team held off the Panthers through the second half and both overtimes. The match went to penalty kicks for the second straight match.
Freshman
Bailey Redden recorded only one save on the day as only two shots by the Panthers were on goal.
The Redhawks took a 2-0 lead as the first two Panther shots were saved by Redden.
Southeast finishes the season 5-8-5 and 3-4-4 in conference.
