Tennis Falls to Central Arkansas, 7-0, Sunday at Mizzou

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's tennis (0-2) dropped a 7-0 decision to Central Arkansas (1-1) Sunday at the Mizzou Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of Missouri.
"The team fought hard today, we have a few things we need to go back and practice this week before we head back out next weekend," head coach Mary Beth Gunn said of the second dual of 2018.
SEMO dropped the doubles point after opening the meet with three straight losses. Anais Emelie and Maja Lundell fell in the first match, 6-3, to QiLi Ma and Rada Manataweewat. Isabella Krupa and Kseniya Zonova then dropped their first doubles match, 6-3, to Pornpawee Pramethong and Marli Van Heerden as Central Arkansas earned the doubles point. Oleksandra Doroshenko and Alessandra Maya Thompson closed the doubles competition with a tight loss, 6-4, to Chunan Xiang/Amiru Shimoguchi in the second doubles position.
In singles play, Southeast's lost its second through fifth singles matches in straight sets to the Sugar Bears. Doroshenko lost her top singles match in tiebreaker to Pramethong, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).
In the sixth and final singles match, Maya Thompson took the second set, 6-4, to even the match at one set apiece after Manataweewat won the first set, 6-2. In the third set, Maya Thompson fell to Manataweewat, 10-8.
SEMO travels to Peoria, Illinois next weekend for a pair of matches at Bradley University. The Redhawks take on Bradley on Friday, Jan. 26 at 6 p.m. and then faces Northern Illinois to close out the weekend meets on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 9 a.m.
