Scouting the Bears
Missouri State enters Friday's match with a 1-3 record on the season. The Bears' lone win was a 1-0 shutout at Central Arkansas last Friday. At home, Missouri State is 0-1 after falling to Arkansas State in the season opener. The Bears have scored three goals but have surrendered six. The offense is holding up with its opponents, averaging just 2.2 less shots per game.

Let's Recap
The Redhawks wrapped up their homestand last week going 1-1 against a pair of Wisconsin teams. Southeast fell to Milwaukee on Friday by a slim 1-0 margin. SEMO rebounded and shut out Green Bay on Sunday, 2-0.
Esmie Gonzales netted the game winner in the 19th minute.
Lexi Grote netted her first career goal in the 32nd minute to widen the Redhawk lead. The defense allowed only 17 shots on the weekend while the offense fired off 40, 29 of which coming against Green Bay. The shutout of the Phoenix was Southeast's third in four games.
Looking Ahead
Southeast returns to Houck Field for a showdown with ACC foe Louisville on Labor Day, Sept. 4. That game will feature a Labor Day cook-out for all fans courtesy of Stevie's Steakburger, a Residence Hall Rally presented by Andy's Frozen Custard, and Redhawks Club Night. Southeast will then take 11 days off from competition in preparation for the start of OVC play Sept. 15 against Tennessee Tech.
Going Home
Senior goalkeeper
Kindra Lierz will travel to her hometown of Springfield to play the Bears on Friday. Lierz is a graduate of Glendale High School in Springfield. This will be the second time Lierz will face Missouri State in her career.
OVC Defensive Player of the Week
Junior defender
Maddi Karstens was named this week's adidas® OVC Defensive Player of the Week. Karstens played the full 180 minutes on defense last week for Southeast. The Redhawks' back line allowed only one goal to Milwaukee then turned around and shut out Green Bay. Karstens assisted on the game-winning goal of Sunday's game when she dropped a free kick into the box from 50 yards out for
Esmie Gonzales to net the first goal of the game. This is the first weekly conference honor for the St. Charles, Missouri native in her career.
Approaching 100 Home Wins
In its 19th season, Southeast Missouri has won a total of 99 matches at the friendly confines of Houck Field. In all, the Redhawks are 99-40-21 at home.
