Series Histories
Southeast met both teams in Wisconsin for the first time a season ago. The Redhawks swept the road swing, both by a score of 1-0. The Redhawks and Phoenix went to overtime in Green Bay on Aug. 25. Natasha Minor netted the game winner in the 100th minute for the win. Three days later in Milwaukee, Maggie Pike scored an early fourth-minute goal, her first career goal. The Redhawks held the 1-0 lead to zeros, extending their season-opening winning streak to four.

Scouting the Opponents
Milwaukee
The Panthers enter Friday's game with a 1-0-1 record. Milwaukee played Akron to a scoreless tie in the season opener. On Sunday at Robert Morrris, the Panthers blanked the Colonials, 2-0. GK Mallory Geurts was named Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week, making 10 saves in 200 minutes of both shutouts.
Milwaukee was picked to win the Horizon League, gathering five first-place votes to earn a preseason favorite pick with Northern Kentucky. The Panthers repeated as Horizon League champions in 2016, earning its 16th regular season title in 17 years. The 2016 Panthers finished the season 13-5-2 and 8-1-0 in the league.
Green Bay
The Phoenix opened the 2017 season at home, dropping a 1-0 decision to St. Cloud State. Green Bay then followed Milwaukee to Akron but fell on Sunday, 3-0. Green Bay will take on OVC opponent Eastern Illinois on Friday before coming to Cape.
Green Bay, also in the Horizon League, was picked last in the preseason poll. The Phoenix finished the 2016 campaign 1-13-2 and 1-7-1 in conference action.

Let's Recap
The Redhawks opened the 2017 campaign with back-to-back shutouts of Evansville and Illinois Springfield. The SEMO defense and offense were working hand-in-hand in both matches combining for five goals on 31 shots, limiting opponents to no goals and only eight shots allowed. Of those eight shots, SEMO's opponents put only two of them on goal in 180 minutes. Maggie Pike's two-goal performance against UIS has her in the team lead while Esmie Gonzales leads the squad with seven shots.

Looking Ahead
Southeast begins the month of September with a trip to Missouri State. The Redhawks and Bears face off Sept. 1 at 5 p.m. in Springfield, hometown of senior goalkeeper Kindra Lierz. Southeast returns to Houck with a showdown with ACC foe Louisville on Labor Day. That game will feature a Labor Day cook-out, a Residence Hall Rally presented by Andy's Frozen Custard, and Redhawks Club Night.

Another Terrific Home Opener
Southeast hosted Illinois Springfield Sunday, Aug. 20 at Houck Field. A crowd of 846 took in the game. The attendance figure is the second largest for a soccer game at Houck Field. A season ago, Southeast set the attendance record of 1,137 in the home opener, also against Springfield.

OVC Preseason Poll
Southeast was picked to finish tied for fifth in the 2017 OVC Predicted Order of Finish, the league announced Tuesday. Murray State was picked to win the league with 10 first-place votes. Three other teams also garnered first-place votes including SIUE, Eastern Kentucky, and Tennessee Tech. Southeast's conference slate begins Sept. 15 against Tennessee Tech.

Prepping for a Record Year
Goalkeeper Kindra Lierz will look to break several career goalkeeper records during her senior season including saves, wins, and solo shutouts. She broke the goalkeeper minutes played record in the season finale last year, having played 5,298 in three seasons.

Approaching 100 Home Wins
In its 19th season, Southeast Missouri has won a total of 98 matches at the friendly confines of Houck Field. In all, the Redhawks are 98-39-21 at home.
