Hoelting Tosses No-Hitter
Left-hander
Mackenzie Hoelting threw a complete game no-hitter to lead Southeast Missouri to a 4-0 victory over Austin Peay (Apr. 8). Hoelting threw the first no-hitter of her career and Southeast's first this season. She matched a career-high four strikeouts and faced 25 hitters along the way. Only four Governors reached base against Hoelting as her first career win came in no-hit fashion. Hoelting became the third different pitcher to throw a no-hitter in the Ohio Valley Conference this season.
Doubleheader Sweep
The Redhawks ended a nine-game losing streak when they swept Austin Peay in a doubleheader on Apr. 8. Southeast posted back-to-back 3-0 and 4-0 shutouts against the Governors. It was the first time the Redhawks recorded consecutive shutouts this year.
Rookie Sensation
Freshman center fielder
Rachel Anderson is having an outstanding rookie season at Southeast. Anderson enters the week second in the Ohio Valley Conference in batting average with a .426 clip. She leads the league in triples (7) and ranks second in slugging percentage (.741), fifth in on-base percentage (.496), fourth in hits (46) and third in total bases (80). Anderson leads the Redhawks with 17 mulitiple-hit games and eight multi-RBI contests this year. She ranks third in the nation in triples and 49th in slugging percentage.
10-Game Winner
Pitcher
Madeline Krumrey picked up her 10th win of the season when she struck out three and allowed just two hits in seven innings against Austin Peay (Apr. 8). Krumrey leads the Redhawks in wins, strikeouts (67), innings (98), games started (18), complete games (7) and shutouts (3) this season. It is the second time in her career where Krumrey has won 10 or more games in a season.
Triple Time
Southeast is first in the Ohio Valley Conference and third the nation with 16 triples this season. The Redhawks had just seven triples in 49 games a year ago. The 2017 Redhawks now rank ninth all-time in school history for most triples in a season.
Southern Illinois Teams
The Redhawks face both Southern Illinois teams prior to the Easter holiday this week. After hosting SIU Wednesday, Southeast heads to fellow Ohio Valley Conference member SIU Edwardsville for a doubleheader Friday. SIUE is 32-7 overall and 8-2 in OVC play.
