Looking to Regroup
Southeast enters Ohio Valley Conference play on a three-game losing streak. The Redhawks have dropped five of their last six contests. It is Southeast's longest losing streak this season.

Tournament Play
The Redhawks wrapped up tournament play by going 1-4 at the Rock Chalk Challenge (Mar. 17-19) in Lawrence, Kansas. Southeast played in five different tournaments prior to its conference slate. The Redhawks finished at 12-9 overall in tournament play, also winning the Jackson State Tournament (Feb. 11-12) with a 3-0 mark, going 3-2 at the Lion Classic II (Feb. 17-19) in Hammond, Louisiana, going 2-2 at the We Back Pat Tournament (Mar. 4-5) and fashioning a 3-1 record at the Leon Smith Classic (Mar. 9-12) in Oxford, Alabama.

Long Road Stretch
Southeast closes out a 29-game stretch outside of Cape Girardeau when it visits Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State. The Redhawks recently played seven games during their spring break last week making trips to Atlanta, Georgia, Kennesaw, Georgia and Lawrence, Kansas. Southeast went 2-5 with three one-run losses during that time.

Winning Record
The Redhawks are currently 15-10 overall this season. That said, Southeast starts Ohio Valley Conference play with a winning record for the first time since 2009. That year, the Redhawks were 9-7 leading up to their conference opener. The 15 wins are Southeast's most before the start of a league season since 1998 (17).

Late Inning Setback
For the first time this season, Southeast lost after holding a lead after six innings. The Redhawks lost two-straight games in such fashion by scores of 6-5 against Omaha (Mar. 18) and Kansas (Mar. 19). Southeast led, 5-4, heading into the seventh inning before Omaha scored twice to win. A day later, the Redhawks were ahead of Kansas, 4-3, when the Jayhawks later used a three-run walk-off home run to come away with a victory. Southeast is now 9-2 when leading after six innings this year.

OVC Openers
Southeast is 16-9 all-time in Ohio Valley Conference openers. The Redhawks won their OVC opener in five of the last six seasons. This year marks the first time Southeast and Tennessee Tech meet to begin conference play.

Redburn Gets 50th Win
Mark Redburn nailed down his 50th career win as Southeast's head coach when the Redhawks beat UMKC, 10-0, on Mar. 17. Redburn holds a 50-70 record at the Southeast helm. Redburn has been part of three other milestone wins during his time at Southeast. He led the Redhawks to their 1,000th victory in program history on Mar. 26, 2016 (9-0, vs. Tennessee State), picked up his 100th career NCAA Division I win with a 4-3 victory over Southern Illinois on Apr. 8, 2015, and won the 200th game of his head coaching career when the Redhawks beat Austin Peay, 7-4, on Apr. 30, 2016.

Hayes Debuts at First Base
Riley Hayes started three games at first base at the Rock Chalk Challenge (Mar. 17-19). Hayes made her first career start at first base vs. UMKC (Mar. 17) and remained the Redhawks starter in that spot for the LSU (Mar. 18) and Omaha (Mar. 18) games. Hayes logged a total of 67 starts at catcher, three at designated player, two at right field and three at first base in her career.

Rookie Sensation
Freshman center fielder Rachel Anderson is off to an outstanding start in her first season at Southeast.  Anderson enters the weekend second in the Ohio Valley Conference in batting average with a .447 clip. She leads the league in triples (7) and ranks third in slugging percentage (.816), fourth in on-base percentage (.512), seventh in hits (34) and third in total bases (62). Anderson leads the Redhawks with 12 mulitiple-hit games and five multi-RBI contests this year. She leads the nation in triples and ranks 33rd in slugging percentage.

Arellanes Breaks Single-Game Record
Newcomer Mykaela Arellanes broke a Southeast single-game school record with four stolen bases in the Redhawks win over Alabama A&M (Mar. 11). The Redhawks finished with a season-high seven stolen bases in that game. Arellanes is one of three players in the Ohio Valley Conference with four stolen bases in a game this year. The others are Eastern Illinois' Kayla Bear (vs. Fort Wayne) and UT Martin's Lauren Myers (vs. Farleigh Dickinson). Southeast is tied for fifth in the league with 38 stolen bases in 2017. Arellanes leads the team with 10 stolen bases in 11 attempts.

Triple Time
Southeast is first in the Ohio Valley Conference and leads the nation with 13 triples this season. The Redhawks had just seven triples in 49 games last season. The 2017 Redhawks are two triples away from cracking the school's top 10 list for most triples in a season.

Nice Work
Freshman Rachel Anderson leads the nation and is first in the Ohio Valley Conference with seven triples through 25 games. Anderson's seven triples are the most in a season since Kelsey White had seven in 55 games during the 2000 campaign.

Start Me Up
Sophomore shortstop Sarah Messex started every game of her Southeast career to date. Messex enters the weekend with a streak of 74 consecutive starts. She has the longest games started streak of any Redhawk and is one of three players on this year's team to start every contest. Rachel Anderson and Mykaela Arellanes are the others.

Krumrey Reaches 200
Junior Madeline Krumrey recorded the 200th strikeout of her career when Southeast beat Missouri State and UMKC at the We Back Pat Tournament on Mar. 4. Krumrey leads the Redhawks with 53 strikeouts in 70.1 innings through 14 appearances and 13 starts this year.

More on Krumrey
Madeline Krumrey is having a strong season inside the circle thus far. After finishing the 2016 campaign at 6-14 with a 3.64 ERA, Krumrey stands at 9-2 with a 1.39 earned run average. She leads the Redhawks with five complete games and has tossed two shutouts. The most wins Krumrey had in a season was 13 during her freshman year in 2015. She ranks fifth in the Ohio Valley Conference in ERA and tied for third in wins.

Sixth and Seventh Innings
Opponents are outscoring Southeast by a combined 40-11 in the sixth (23-3) and seventh (17-8) through 25 games this season. The Redhawks scored 30 runs in the fourth inning, their most in an inning this year.

Strong Pitching
Madeline Krumrey (9-2) and Alexis Estes (5-2) are a combined 14-4 inside the circle. The two have accounted for six complete games, two shutouts and two saves, as well.

2017 Redhawks
Southeast's 2017 roster consists of 23 players with three seniors, five juniors, six sophomores and nine freshmen. The Redhawks have a total of 11 newcomers on this year's squad. Six of those newcomers (Rachel Anderson, Brooke Rheinecker, Addison Barnouski, Parker Bandy, Mykaela Arellanes and Madison Harris) are hitting .325 or better.

Double-Digit Hits
The Redhawks registered 10 or more hits a total of nine times this season and are 8-1 in those contests. Southeast pounded out a season-high 18 hits vs. Jarvis Christian College on Feb. 11. As a team, the Redhawks are fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference hitting .312.

Road Warriors
Southeast plays its first 29 games outside of Cape Girardeau. The Redhawks have just 13 home games this season, all in April. Southeast hosts Eastern Illinois in its home-opener on Apr. 1.

Up Next
The Redhawks return to Cape Girardeau to host Eastern Illinois in their home-opener on Apr. 1. First pitch for the doubleheader is 1 p.m., CT, at the Southeast Softball Complex.

Team 41
The 2017 club marks the 41st team in Southeast softball history. Southeast is 1,020-863-3 all-time since the program began in 1977. The Redhawks are in their 26th season at the NCAA Division I level and own a 660-636-2 mark during that era. Southeast has five Ohio Valley Conference regular-season titles (1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999), five OVC Tournament crowns (1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999) and one NCAA Tournament appearance (1999) in its Division I tenure.

The Redhawks have 17 home runs in 25 games.

Much Improved
After going 16-33 overall and not making the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament last season, Southeast is currently 14-6 this year. The Redhawks went 11-4 in their last 15 games and are off to their best start under third-year head coach Mark Redburn. Southeast has not played a home game in 2017.
