A Look at What's Ahead
It's off to Eastern Illinois for a rematch with the Panthers on Saturday, Feb. 11. Southeast fell to EIU at the Show Me Center on Jan. 21, 71-62. Tipoff between SEMO and EIU will be at 3:30 p.m. following the men's game in Charleston. SEMO will return home on Feb. 18 to host UT Martin, beginning the final three games of the regular season.

Series History
Southeast Missouri leads the all-time series dating back to 1978, 21-18. However, since SIUE began playing in the OVC in 2010, the Redhawks have gone 3-11 against the Cougars. Southeast is 13-6 in the Show Me Center against the Cougars but have not defeated them at home since Jan. 27, 2014. Last season, SEMO dropped both ends of the home-and-home series to SIUE then faced off again in the OVC Tournament in Nashville. SEMO took the three-seeded Cougars to overtime but fell in the end, 80-76.

Scouting the Cougars
After a 1-4 start to OVC play, SIUE has gone on to win five of its last six games, sparked by the buzzer-beating victory over SEMO on Jan. 18. That game was the first of four-straight wins for the Cougars. SIUE's only loss in its last six games came at the hands of undefeated Belmont on the road last Wednesday. SIUE fell at Belmont before defeating Jacksonville State last week. Junior Donshel Beck notched a double-double with 22 points and 15 rebounds versus Belmont. She had 17 points, six rebounds, and six assists in the win over JSU. Gwen Adams is among the nation's leaders in free throw percentage and is now 98-of-105 for the season. Micah Jones has come off the bench the last four games to score in double digits.

In the last Meeting
A 30-point fourth quarter by Southeast Missouri helped erase a 17-point deficit to SIUE Jan. 18 but a 3-pointer at the buzzer lifted the Cougars to a one-point victory, 70-69. Southeast, who trailed 53-39 at the beginning of the fourth quarter, outscored SIUE 30-17 in the final 10 minutes to not only tie the game, but lead twice in the final two minutes. A 3-pointer by Lauren White with nine-tenths of a second on the clock lifted the Cougars to the 70-69 win. The Redhawks were led by career-high 15-point performances from Adrianna Murphy, Mandy Madden, and Lakyn Gulley. Murphy's 15 points were accompanied by eight assists, three steals, and a team-high six rebounds in a season-high 35 minutes. Madden contributed five boards with two assists, blocks, and steals. Gulley drained five shots from 3-point range, three of which came in the final quarter. Southeast shot 77 percent in the fourth quarter to raise its final shooting percentage to 44 percent in the game.

A Look Back
A 20-point, nine-rebound performance by Deja Jones gave the Redhawks a fighting chance Saturday against second-place Morehead State; but it wasn't enough in the end as the Redhawks fell to the Eagles, 82-72 at the Show Me Center. Southeast held a five-point lead at halftime and found itself tied with Morehead going into the fourth quarter; however, the Eagles won the final frame 25-15 to grab the victory over SEMO. The game was Jones' third double-digit point and second 20-point game this season. She fell just short of a double-double, finishing with nine rebounds. She started the game 7-for-7 from the field but ended with a still very respectable 9-for-10 performance. Bri Mitchell was one of two other Redhawks who scored in double-figures. She finished with 16 points and added 11 assists for her first career double-double. Saturday was her second double-digit assist game of her career. Mitchell also went 6-of-8 from the free-throw line. Mitchell's 16 points extends her double-digit point streak to five games. Her three steals tied a career high. Hannah Noe was the third and final Redhawk to post double-digit points, finishing tied with Mitchell with 16. Noe tied a career-best four made free-throws, finishing 4-for-5 from the line. As a team, Southeast was narrowly outshot in the contest, 40-39.4 percent. A 15-rebound fourth quarter resulted in Southeast being outrebounded in the game, 51-39.

Logging Miles, and Wins
With last Wednesday's road victory over Jacksonville State, the Redhawks recorded their third conference road win of the season. The last time Southeast had three wins in league play away from the Show Me Center was 2008-09 when SEMO went 4-5 on the road.

Daugherty Named OVC Legend
SEMO women's basketball alumna Sonya Daugherty was one of six women's basketball players named an OVC Legend for 2017. Daugherty was named MVP of the 2007 OVC Tournament after leading Southeast Missouri to a victory over Murray State in the title game. She averaged 19.8 points/game during the team's run and would go on to score 25 points and grab 10 rebounds in a first round NCAA Tournament game against Oklahoma. She finished her career ranked 10th in SEMO history in scoring (1,170 points) and also ranks among all-time Redhawk leaders in 3-pointers made and steals.

In the Home Stretch
The Redhawks have only five regular-season games left on their schedule. Three of those games will take place at the Show Me Center. Southeast will look to turn its home record around in its final games after going 5-7 in Cape this season. SEMO is 1-4 in home OVC games in 2016-17.

Leaving Their Legacy
Southeast's two seniors, Olivia Hackmann and Bri Mitchell, are the newest inductees to the Southeast Missouri Women's Basketball 1,000-Point Club. Hackmann scored her 1,000th point on Dec. 31 while Mitchell was inducted on Jan. 21. They are the 17th and 18th all-time members to the club, eighth and ninth of SEMO's Division I era. Sonya Daugherty and Tarina Nixon (2005-09) were the last inducted into the club, also doing it in the same season.

Assisting Milestone
Bri Mitchell dished out her 300th career assist in last Wednesday's game at Jacksonville State. Her 312 assists ranks seventh all-time at Southeast. Only six other Southeast Missouri players have recorded 300 assists in their career. Mitchell recorded her first double-digit assist game against Alabama A&M with 12.

Help! I Need Somebody
Sophomore point guard Adrianna Murphy is 17th in the nation with 141 assists this season. Her 5.9 assists per game ranks 21st. Murphy has had three double-digit assist performances this season including a career-high 14. For the second year in a row, Murphy has cracked the single-season top 10 with 141; she had 144 as a freshman. She is currently five assists away from entering the career top-10 list as a sophomore.
