Southeast Missouri women's volleyball (10-16, 5-7) concludes their regular season road schedule this weekend at Murray State and Austin Peay. The Redhawks face Murray State on Friday at 7 p.m. and then take on APSU Saturday at 2 p.m.

Series History
Murray State
Southeast leads the all-time season series with Murray State, 51-30, but the Racers have won the last 10-straight meetings. The Racers won the first 2017 matchup on Sept. 30, 3-1, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. SEMO won the opening set for its first set win over Murray State since Nov. 8, 2013 (2-3 loss at SEMO).

Nzingha Clarke recorded a career-best 11 total blocks with 10 block assists and also led the team with 14 kills for her first double-double of the 2017 campaign. Haley Bilbruck notched a season-high 10 block assists and Krista Berns added a career-high seven total blocks.

SEMO last beat the Racers on Oct. 12, 2013 in Murray, Kentucky, 3-0.

Austin Peay
The Redhawks hold a 35-28 edge in the all-time series with the Governors but Austin Peay has won the past four matches. APSU took the first 2017 meeting in Cape on Sept. 29, 3-0.Â
Krissa Gearring led SEMO with 10 kills and Mikayla Kuhlmann added eight. Southeast was last victorious over the Governors on Sept. 26, 2015, a 3-1 win, in Cape.

Scouting the Opponents
Racers (16-8, 8-4)
Murray State split their two matches last weekend with a 2-3 loss at SIUE followed by a 3-1 win over Eastern Illinois on Saturday.

Sophomore rightside hitter Rachel Holthaus led the Racers with 30 kills over the two matches including a career-best 21 kills with 10 digs on Friday against SIUE. Holthaus was named the OVC Co-Newcomer of the Week for her efforts. Freshman libero Becca Fernandez recorded 25-plus digs in each match last week racking up a season-high 29 digs at SIUE and then 26 at EIU. Freshman setter Callie Anderton notched season-highs in both digs and assists in each match last week. She tallied 49 assists and 13 digs versus SIUE and followed that up with 55 assists and 15 digs on Saturday against Eastern Illinois.

Murray State head coach David Schwepker graduated from Southeast in 1987. Schwepker spent time as an assistant coach at SEMO from 1992-94 and helped the Redhawks to two OVC regular season titles (1993 and '94) and an OVC Tournament title in 1994.

Murray State won their third consecutive OVC title last season and was selected to finish fourth in the 2017 OVC preseason poll. The Racers received six-first place votes.

Governors (24-4, 11-1)
Austin Peay leads the OVC with an 11-1 record in league play and a 24-4 mark overall. The Governors swept Middle Tennessee of Conference USA on Wednesday in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to extend their win streak to seven-straight matches. Redshirt junior outside hitter Christina White led the Governors with seven service aces including four straight to start the match. Senior middle blocker/rightside hitter Ashley Slay posted a team-high 12 kills and junior setter Kristen Stucker had 30 assists. APSU faces UT Martin on Friday before Saturday's match against the Redhawks.Â

Austin Peay notched wins at Eastern Illinois and SIUE this past weekend. Slay earned OVC Offensive Player of the Week honors after leading the Governors offense with 32 kills and a .403 attack percentage with 20 kills against SIUE. Stucker was named the OVC Setter of the Week and had 92 assists over the weekend including 58 against the Cougars. Friday's win over EIU marked head coach Taylor Mott's 100
th victory at Austin Peay.

Austin Peay was chosen to finish second in the 2017 OVC preseason poll and racked up six first-place votes. Slay and Stucker were both selected to the 2017 Preseason All-OVC Team after earning first team honors in 2016. Stucker was also the 2016 OVC Setter of the Year.

Southeast beat UT Martin, 3-2, on Tuesday, Oct. 24 and then swept Tennessee Tech on Friday, Oct. 27 in Cookeville, Tennessee.
Nzingha Clarke led the Redhawks offense with a .500 hitting percentage and 21 kills. Clarke also chipped in 10 blocks. Allie Henkelman dished out 55 assists to help SEMO hit .235 over both matches. Haley Bilbruck added 18 kills on a .381 attack percentage.

Nzingha Clarke leads the conference with UT Martin's Jemima Idemudia and ranks 19th in the NCAA with 121 total blocks (24 solo and 97 assists) this season. Clarke is also tied for first with Idemudia with 1.27 block per set. She now has 119 solo blocks and 317 block assists for 436 total blocks in her Redhawks career.

Clarke is two total blocks behind Brenna Schlader (2004-07) for 10th all-time in Southeast program history. She also ranks 11th all-time in career block assists behind Theresa Sebacher who recorded 328 from 1993 to 1996.

Offensively, Clarke is first in the OVC with a .387 hitting percentage. In solely conference matches, Clarke leads the league with a .407.

Da Ally D Show
Libero Ally Dion matched her career-best of five services aces on Tuesday, Oct. 27 against UT Martin. Dion rallied off three-straight service aces in the third set. She leads the conference with 0.43 services aces per set (28th in the NCAA). Her 35 total service aces rank her second in the OVC (45th in the NCAA). Dion is also tied for ninth in the league with 3.88 digs per set in OVC only matches.

Assisting Allie
Setter Allie Henkelman led Southeast this past week with 55 total assists and added 26 digs. On Friday, Henkelman surpassed 600 assists in her Redhawks career with 25 and now has 606 career assists. Henkelman is 10th in the OVC with 5.41 assists per set in conference matches. She has notched a double-double performance in three straight matches and leads the team with 10.

Less is More
Marie Less had her most productive offensive outings last week. Less recorded a season-high eight kills with nine digs off the bench on Tuesday. She followed that up with seven kills and 10 digs on Friday against Tennessee Tech. Prior to Tuesday's contest, Less had played a majority of the campaign as a defensive specialist and contributed in both matches last week as an outside hitter.

Fornoff the Facilitator
Setter
Keegan Fornoff eclipsed 1,000 career assists in her Redhawks career on Friday with 11. She has posted a career-high of 474 assists in 2017 and ranks 10th all-time in program history for career assists with 1,003.

Gearring the Terminator
Krissa Gearring has 1,243 career kills and is one kill behind Nancy Scheller (1,244 in 1987-91) for 10th all-time in Southeast history. Gearing also ranks third in Redhawks history with 3,872 career attack attempts. In the OVC, she is seventh in conference matches with 3.35 kills per set and 3.90 points per set.

Gearring is one of 27 NCAA Division I volleyball players to reach the milestone of 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs in 2017. She is only one of two OVC players to hold this distinction this season with 1,243 kills and 1,205 digs in her career as a Redhawk.

The Redhawks close out the regular season with home matchups against SIUE on Nov. 10 and Eastern Illinois on Nov. 11.

Non-Conference Recap
SEMO concluded their non-conference schedule with a 5-9 record (4-0 home, 0-4 away, 1-5 neutral). Southeast picked up its first win of the season over Alcorn State at the New Orleans Invitational and returned to Cape where the team rallied off four-straight wins and claimed the Redhawks Invitational Championship. The Redhawks then lost seven-straight matches at both the Drake Invitational and Chicago State Invitational with a stop at SIU sandwiched in between.

Roster Breakdown
The Redhawks squad includes 15 student-athletes with the bulk of the team made up of upperclassmen (five seniors and five juniors). Nine members from the 2016 team return this season with four returnees being regular starters last season. The 2017 roster features five newcomers, two of which are true freshman and the other three players transferring from other institutions.

OVC Preseason
SEMO was chosen to finish ninth in the 2017 Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll. The Redhawks received 70 points in the survey voted on by OVC Coaches and Sports Information Directors. Belmont was picked as the 2017 preseason favorite. The Bruins garnered 10 of the 24 first place votes for 223 points. Austin Peay (214 points) finished second with six first-place votes. SIUE (199 points) took two first-place votes for third and 2016 OVC Champion, Murray State, (188 points) received six first-place votes to place fourth. Senior outside hitter
