Quick Kicks
Southeast Missouri women's soccer (4-7-3, 1-3-3) welcomes Ohio Valley Conference foes Eastern Illinois (5-9-2, 0-6-1) and SIUE (6-6-2, 4-2-1) to Houck Field for Homecoming weekend. 
 
Southeast takes on Eastern Illinois Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. The weekend concludes on Sunday when SIUE makes its way to Cape for a 2 p.m. matchup.

Friday, Oct. 13
• International Student Night: Parade of Nations at halftime with an international student soccer match on the field after the game.
Sunday, Oct. 15
• Meg Herndon Memorial Game: The Redhawks will honor the late Meg Herndon during Sunday's match. 2017 is the five-year anniversary of the former Redhawk's tragic passing. 
• Sunday Fun-Day: The East End Zone will be open for parking & tailgating before and during the game.

Series Histories
Eastern Illinois
Despite winning six of the last seven meetings, the Redhawks trail in the all-time series with EIU, 9-10-3. All six of Southeast's wins in the last seven meetings have been by way of shutout of the Panthers. SEMO is 6-6-3 in Cape against EIU. 
SIUE
SEMO leads the all-time series against SIUE 6-3-1. The Redhawks won six of the first eight meetings against the Cougars but went 0-1-1 in the last two, falling last season in Edwardsville, 0-2. At Houck, the Redhawks leads the series 4-1-1. 
 
Scouting the Opponents
Eastern Illinois
Eastern Illinois fell to Jacksonville State and played to a scoreless draw with Tennessee Tech. Sophomore Lindsey Carlson anchored a defense that gave up just one goal in two matches. She played all 200 minutes last week. Sophomore goalkeeper Sara Teteak recorded her third shutout of the season in the draw with Tennessee Tech. She made nine saves versus the Gamecocks and followed that up with eight against the Golden Eagles. 
SIUE
SIUE played to a scoreless draw with Tennessee Tech before defeating Jacksonville State last week. Senior Caroline Hoefert scored what proved to be the game-winning shot versus JSU. She had four shots versus the Gamecocks and followed that up with a pair of shots against Tech. Freshman defender Myah Diekeman was part of a defense that didn't allow a goal over two matches. Senior goalkeeper Juli Rossi was in net for every minute of both matches. She picked up a pair of shutouts and made four saves. 
 
Let's Recap
The Redhawks' offense got a boost in two games last week, netting three goals. Esmie Gonzales scored her second goal of the season to put SEMO ahead of Austin Peay Friday. The Govs netted the equalizer and the two teams played to a 1-1 draw. Southeast and Belmont combined for six second-half goals on Sunday. SEMO fell behind 3-0 but worked to net two, falling in the end by a 4-2 score. Senior Shelby Beussink scored her first career goal while Katie Lever netted her second of the season. 
 
Looking Ahead
The regular season will come to a close next Sunday, Oct. 22. SEMO will welcome Jacksonville State for Senior Day. Kickoff will be at 2 p.m. at Houck Field. Southeast will look to clinch a spot in the OVC Tournament beginning Oct. 27. 
 
United Soccer Coaches Academic Award
The United Soccer Coaches announced its annual Team Academic Awards last week. Southeast Missouri women's soccer claimed its eight-straight yearly award for the 2016-17 academic year. The Redhawks put together a 3.64 team GPA for the 2016-17 academic year, which tied for 17th in the country.
