CAPE GIRARDEAU. Mo. -- Southeast Missouri's women's tennis team continues its fall Slate at the UT Martin Fall Invitational Friday. Play is set to begin at 1 p.m., CT.
"We are going to face tough competition this weekend; it will give us a chance to assess some of the OVC schools.," said head coach Mary Beth Gunn. "We are looking to build on our doubles play from last weekend, and try out some new things with our singles play. One of our main goals going in is to play with intensity and to have a high energy on the court."
The tournament is a two-day event consisting of host and defending Ohio Valley Conference Champion UT Martin, along with fellow OVC member Austin Peay and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) representative Alabama-Huntsville.
SEMO looks to build on its early success after winning the William Woods Doubles Invitational last weekend. The Redhawks won both flights and claimed the consolation bracket's bottom flight. Each doubles pairing picked up at least two victories with only one duo sustaining a loss in their record.
SEMO is scheduled to play first against Alabama-Huntsville Friday. The Redhawks follow that up with a doubles match against the Skyhawks at 3:30 p.m. and close out the evening with another doubles matchup against the Lady Govs at 6:45 p.m.
