Southeast Missouri will travel to Evansville, Indiana to take on the Evansville Purple Aces. The match will be Evansville's first home contest of the season and will be broadcasted live as a part of The Valley on ESPN3.
Scouting the Purple Aces
EU enters the contest after playing in Edwardsville, Illinois against Green Bay and SIUE, falling in both contests 3-0. Currently, Evansville rides a five-game losing streak, not having won a contest this season. Mildrelis Rodriguez leads the Purple Aces offensively with 38 kills on the season.
Weekend Recap
The Redhawks began last weekend falling to Northwestern State in four sets at the UAB/Samford Challenge. Later in the same day, tournament host UAB defeated Southeast in three sets to end the first day of competition. On the final evening of matches, the Redhawks fell to Radford.

Krissa Gearring leads SEMO offensively with 112 kills (4.87 per set), ranking second in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Katarina Rotta and
Rachel Poole have split time at the setting position for Southeast. Pool currently has 152 assists (8.94 per set) while Rotta has posted 86 assists.
Defensively,
Jade Mortimer has averaged 5.04 digs per set, which ranks second in the OVC. Along with her 116 digs on the season, she has efficiently helped distribute the ball notching 22 assists on the season.
Redhawks Invite Recap
Falling to Louisiana Tech in the final tournament match-up, the Redhawks finished the weekend 1-2. By owning the top set winning percentage over New Orleans and Illinois-Chicago, Southeast finished the tournament in second-place. Afterwards, Gearring and Mortimer were both named to the 2016 Redhawks Invitational All-Tournament Team. Gearring finished the weekend with 63 kills (4.85 per set) and ranks third in the Ohio Valley Conference. Mortimer registered 59 digs to average 4.54 per set.
Looking Ahead
The Redhawks will head to Valparaiso, Indiana for the Popcorn Classic. They will open Friday, Sept. 9, against tournament host Valparaiso. The following day, Southeast will do battle with Duquesne and Central Michigan.Â
