Quick Kicks
Southeast Missouri women's soccer (4-0) will travel to the University of Evansville (1-3) Sunday to conclude a three-game road swing. The Redhawks and Purple Aces are set to begin at 7 p.m. from Arad McCutchan Stadium.

A Perfect Start
The Redhawks have opened the 2016 season with a perfect 4-0 start. It's only the second time Southeast has opened the season with four-straight wins. Southeast Missouri opened the 2001 season with nine-straight wins and finished 16-2 that season. There are currently 31 teams undefeated in Division I heading into this weekend; two from the OVC (Austin Peay, SEMO). Arkansas and Ohio State are the only 5-0 teams.

adidas® OVC Defender of the Week
Freshman defender Jasmin Hilliard was named the adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week this week. Hilliard was part of a defensive unit that recorded two shutouts last week at Green Bay and Milwaukee. Hilliard played all 190 minutes of both matches and held opponents to eight shots on goal. In Sunday's match at Milwaukee, Hilliard assisted on Maggie Pike's game-winning goal in the fourth minute of the match. The Redhawks held the 1-0 lead the final 86 minutes to stay perfect on the season at 4-0. Hilliard was one of three defenders to play all 190 minutes last week.

200th Career Victory
Head coach Heather Nelson recorded her 200th career victory as a head coach with the 1-0 win over Milwaukee. Nelson, who is in her 22nd season as a head coach, has a career record of 200-151-45. Nelson and her husband, Associate Head Coach Paul Nelson, spent four seasons at Florida State (1995-98) before taking over the Southeast women's team. The Nelsons have guided the Redhawks since the program's inception in 1999. Southeast has won five OVC regular season titles and two OVC Tournaments with two NCAA Tournament appearances (2006, 2007). Nelson is 169-107-40 at SEMO.

Series History
Sunday's match will be the 11th meeting between Southeast Missouri and Evansville. The Redhawks are 4-3-3 all-time against the Purple Aces. SEMO won last year's matchup in Cape Girardeau, 1-0, but fell the previous year on the road by the same margin. The Redhawks are 2-1-1 in Evansville. The last win in Evansville came on Sept. 2, 2011, 3-0.

Scouting the Opponent
Evansville (1-3)
The Purple Aces enter this weekend with a 1-3 record on the season. They face OVC opponent Morehead State on the road Friday evening. UE is coming off a 2-0 road loss at Austin Peay on Aug. 28. Bronwyn Boswell has scored three of UE's four total goals this season. SEMO will be the third consecutive OVC opponent for the Purple Aces. UE plays UT Martin later this season.

What's Ahead
Southeast Missouri will return to Houck Field for a pair of games next week. On Wednesday, Sept. 7, Union University comes to Cape. The Redhawks and Bulldogs will begin at 7 p.m. The Redhawks will wrap up the homestand on Sunday, Sept. 11, when they host Florida Atlantic. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Southeast will be celebrating the life of former soccer student-athlete Meg Herndon who passed away from injuries suffered in an automobile accident in 2012.
