Match at a Glance
Southeast Missouri State women's volleyball (1-9) returns home to host regional rival Southern Illinois (7-3) on Tuesday. The match will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Houck Field House.
Tuesday's match will be Redhawks Club Night. Free admission will be offered for Redhawks Club members (limit four free admissions per membership card) along with food specials throughout the night. Free popcorn will be offered along with $1 hot dogs and sodas. The Redhawks will also sign autographs following the match.
Scouting the Salukis
SIU enters the fray off a 3-2 victory over Cincinnati after falling to Western Kentucky and Michigan State. Prior to the weekend, the Salukis knocked off Ohio Valley Conference member Murray State, 3-0. Andrea Estrada leads SIU with 104 kills while libero Mariana Pilon has registered 126 digs. Running a 6-2 offense, Meg Viggars and Hannah Kamisky have tallied 227 and 202 assists, respectively.
Last year on Sept. 15, the Redhawks and Salukis met in Carbondale, Ill. where SEMO fell 3-0.
Nzingha Clarke led SEMO in the contest with 11 kills.
Last Time Out
Unable to snap it's losing skid, Southeast fell to Duquesne, Central Michigan and tournament host Valparaiso at the Popcorn Classic last weekend.
Krissa Gearring earned all-tournament honors for the second time this season.
By The Numbers
Gearring has registered 192 kills on the season and now leads the OVC in both total kills and kills per set (4.80). She also leads the conference in points per set (5.11), earning 204.5 through the season. Gearring has earned double-doubles in eight of Southeast's 10 matches, adding in 117 digs with her strong offensive performances.
Two Redhawks reside in the OVC top-10 for hitting percentage, with
Jessica McElderry in seventh (.266) and Clarke in ninth (.252).
Rachel Poole is fourth in the OVC averaging 9.79 assists per set will
Katarina Rotta is seventh at 8.55 per set.
After a career-best 28 dig performance against Central Michigan, Mortimer now has 201 digs on the season. Her 5.03 per set average currently is the top mark in the OVC.
Looking Ahead
Southeast will travel to Macomb, Ill. for the final weekend of non-conference matches. The Leatherneck Invitational will begin Friday, Sept. 16, as the Redhawks play at 11 a.m. against Drake and 4 p.m. vs. Weber State. Southest then takes on tournament host Western Illinois at 11 a.m. the following. SEMO opens OVC play the following weekend on the road at Austin Peay and Murray State.
