Home-Openers
Southeast welcomes Indiana State for its home-opener this season. The Redhawks are 16-9 all-time in home-openers since joining the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision in 1991. Southeast is 2-0 in such games under head coach Tom Matukewicz, defeating Missouri Baptist, 77-0, on Aug. 28, 2014 and Southern Illinois, 27-24, on Sept. 12, 2015. The Redhawks won their home-opener eight of the last 10 years.

Family Weekend
The Redhawks and Sycamores hook up as part of Family Weekend at Southeast Saturday. Southeast has not lost a game on Family Weekend with Tom Matukewicz as its head coach. In fact, those two wins came in the final seconds of the game. In 2014, Paul McRoberts caught a 2-yard game-winning touchdown pass with four seconds left to send the Redhawks to a 24-23 victory over then-#3 Southeastern Louisiana. Last year, Ryan McCrum kicked a game-winning 42-yard field goal with five seconds remaining to beat Southern Illinois, 27-24. McCrum missed his first three field goal attempts of the game before nailing down the victory.

Series History
Indiana State returns the trip to Cape Girardeau on the back end of a home-and-home series. Saturday marks the ninth meeting between the Redhawks and Sycamores as the series stands deadlocked at 4-4. ISU visits Houck Stadium for the first time since 2007. The Redhawks own a 3-1 record against the Sycamores on their home turf.

Last Meeting
A 21-point fourth quarter comeback fell short when Southeast missed a two-point conversion with no time on the clock in a 29-28 heartbreaking loss to then-#23 Indiana State last season. True freshman and nearby Jackson native Dante Vandeven relieved starting quarterback Tay Bender late in the third quarter and threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Paul McRoberts that narrowed ISU's lead to one as time expired. McRoberts moved to the inside of his defender and jumped up to get the ball before lunging across the goal line. Southeast elected to go for the win, but Vandeven's pass sailed out of McRoberts' reach and the Sycamores escaped.

Against the MVFC
Two of Southeast's three non-league opponents this season are from the Missouri Valley Football Conference. The Redhawks are 77-94-8 all-time against the MVFC, having faced Southern Illinois (40-36-8), Illinois State (3-7), Indiana State (4-4), Missouri State (28-46), Northern Iowa (1-1) and Western Illinois (1-0). A total of six MVFC schools are ranked in this week's Top-25 polls.

Matukewicz vs. Indiana State
Tom Matukewicz is 0-1 against Indiana State as a head coach. Prior to his first head coaching job at Southeast, Matukewicz faced ISU a total of seven times as an assistant under Jerry Kill at Southern Illinois from 2001-07. SIU was 5-2 vs. the Sycamores when Matukewicz was part of that staff.

32 in a Row
Southeast kicker Ryan McCrum has made 32-consecutive extra points. McCrum did not miss a PAT all of last season going a perfect 29-of-29. He began this year with 3-of-3 PATs in his first two contests. McCrum last missed a PAT with 3:32 left in the fourth quarter vs. Jacksonville State on Nov. 22, 2014.

Scoring Streak
The Redhawks presently have the third-longest scoring streak in the Ohio Valley Conference. Southeast has scored in 57-consecutive games and ranks behind Murray State (123) and UT Martin (70) in that category. The last time the Redhawks went scoreless in a game was at Purdue (59-0) on Sept. 17, 2011.

100-Yard Man
Will Young, who saw action in five games last season, ran for 100 or more yards in each of his first two career starts. A native of Wichita, Kansas, Young rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries at Memphis (Sept. 3). He averaged 6.7 yards per rush and scored his first career touchdown on a 61-yard run in the third quarter. A week later, Young ran for 100 yards on 22 attempts at Southern Illinois. He became the first Southeast player to rush for over 100 yards against a Football Bowl Subdivision opponent since 2007 (Victor Anderson, 118 yards, at Cincinnati). Young ranks second in the Ohio Valley Conference and 20th in the Football Championship Subdivision with 107 rushing yards per game this season.

Knight Starts Strong Again
Senior punter Alex Knight is off to another strong start. Knight, who hails from Boca Raton, Florida, enters the week ranked first in the Ohio Valley Conference and second in the nation in punting with 48.3 yards per punt. He punted a total of 13 times for 628 yards in his first two contests this season. Knight had six punts of 50 or more yards and was named OVC Specialist of the Week once over that span.

Best in the FCS
Southeast kicker Ryan McCrum leads the nation and the Ohio Valley Conference in field goal percentage with a perfect 4-of-4 through two games this year. McCrum made two field goals of 36 yards, one from 26 yards out and another from 23. He is also a perfect 3-of-3 in PATs as the Redhawks top scorer (15 points). McCrum moved into a tie for fifth all-time in career field goals made (33) at Southeast.

Davis Reaches Career-High
Junior wide receiver Adrian Davis established a new career-high in receiving yards when he caught six passes for 103 yards at Southern Illinois (Sept. 10). Davis is the first Redhawk to get 100 receiving yards in a game this year.

Sack Attack
Southeast registered three sacks at both Memphis (Sept. 3) and Southern Illinois (Sept. 10). The Redhawks are tied for second in the Ohio Valley Conference with six sacks for a loss of 33 yards two weeks into the season. Southeast led the OVC and ranked 15th in the Football Championship Subdivision with 2.82 sacks per game in 2015. The Redhawks notched a total of 31 sacks in 11 games with 15 different players recording at least one. John Popovich paved the way with five sacks for a loss of 32 yards. The 31 sacks marked Southeast's third-most in a season behind the 1994 (38 sacks) and 1997 (33 sacks) campaigns. The Redhawks had a sack in 14 of their last 17 games dating back to 2014.

Red Zone Success
Southeast currently has the top red zone offense in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Redhawks are a perfect 5-of-5 with one touchdown and four field goals on their chances in the red zone this season.
