Quick Kicks
Southeast Missouri women's soccer will open a three-match road swing beginning at Wisconsin-Green Bay Thursday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Aldo Santaga Stadium.
 
Thursday's match is one of two played in the state of Wisconsin this week for the Redhawks. SEMO will take on Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Sunday at noon.
 
A Perfect Start
Southeast Missouri soccer opened the 2016 season with wins over Tennessee and Illinois Springfield last week. 2016 is the sixth season in program history the team has started 2-0. 2014 was the last time.

Southeast Missouri soccer carries seven total student-athletes who hail from the state of Wisconsin including all three seniors (Kaitlin Kuznacic, Angie Mann, Natasha Minor).
 
adidas® OVC Defender of the Week
Alexis Hacker played the full 90 minutes in both matches last weekend. In her NCAA debut at Tennessee, Hacker got the start on defense and was part of the defensive unit that shutout the Vols in the 1-0 victory. In Sunday's home opener, Hacker assisted on Natasha Minor's game-tying goal in the 54th minute while helping to hold Illinois Springfield to just five shots in the match.
 
adidas® OVC Goalkeeper of the Week
Kindra Lierz earned her sixth career Goalkeeper of the Week honors this week. Lierz held the Tennessee Vols scoreless in the season opener Friday in Knoxville. Despite allowing a goal in the home opener Sunday, Lierz earned three saves in the match and earned the win in goal after the Redhawks rallied from down one to win 3-1.
 
Chasing 200
Head coach Heather Nelson is two wins away from recording her 200th career victory as a head coach. Nelson, who is in her 22nd season as a head coach, has a career record of 198-151-45. Nelson and her husband, Associate Head Coach Paul Nelson, spent four seasons at Florida State (1995-98) before taking over the Southeast women's team. The Nelsons have guided the Redhawks since the program's inception in 1999. Southeast has won five OVC regular season titles and two OVC Tournaments with two NCAA Tournament appearances (2006, 2007). Nelson is 167-107-40 at SEMO.
 
Series Histories
Southeast will make its first meetings this week with Green Bay and Milwaukee. This week's trip to Wisconsin will feature the first ever Southeast Missouri soccer games played in the state of Wisconsin.
 
Scouting the Opponent
Green Bay (0-1-1)
The Phoenix opened the season going 0-1-1 at home with a scoreless tie against Loyola followed by a 3-1 loss to Akron. Junior midfielder Maggie Fuller placed her one shot of the season in the back of the net for Green Bay's lone goal of the season. Junior Forward Alex Zeller leads the squad with eight shots this season.
 
A Record Home Crowd
SEMO soccer won its home opener Sunday evening against Illinois Springfield, 3-1. The match featured the largest crowd for a women's soccer match at Houck Stadium of 1,137. The previous record was 841. It was set September 11, 2012 against Evansville.
 
Win Over the SEC
Friday's season-opening win over the University of Tennessee was the third win over an SEC team in the history of Southeast soccer. The first came at Kentucky on Sept. 20, 2002, 2-1. The second was at home against Arkansas on Aug. 27, 2004, 3-2.
 
Active Career List
Currently in her junior season, Kindra Lierz ranks 18th among active Division I goalkeepers with a 0.79 career goals against average. Her .425 shutout percentage ranks 25th nationally in her career.
