Soccer Signs Jasmin Hilliard

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Head women's soccer coach Heather Nelson has announced the signing of forward/defender Jasmin Hilliard from Medina, Ohio.

Hilliard signs from Medina High School where she was a two-year letter winner and starter for the Bees. In both high school seasons, Hilliard was honored as an all-conference performer. She played two years for Doug Coreno at Medina High School, her senior and freshman years.

As a sophomore and junior, Hilliard made a year round commitment to play club soccer for the Internationals under the guidance of their club director and coach, Zdrayko Popovic.

"The sacrifice and dedication demonstrated by Jaz's total commitment to play in the Elite Club's National League meant she had to forgo two of her four high school seasons," Nelson said. "Her actions and mindset speaks volumes about the character and drive she possesses, and we couldn't be more excited for her to join our Redhawk Soccer family."

She was invited as a member of the Super Y League National Olympic Development Program camp in 2013 and was a Super Y All-Tournament team member. She helped lead the Internationals to the Ohio North State Cup Championship and a Super Y National Championship in 2013. In 2014, her team was an ECNL North America Championship quarter finalist.

"Jaz is focused on making an impact on our program, and has a long term goal of playing for the Puerto Rican National Team. Her pure athleticism, technique, and dominant left foot will provide a solid platform to excel from, and her versatility will allow her to contribute on both flanks as a forward and defender. We look forward to Jaz's future as a Redhawk, and are confident that she will positively impact our program on and off the field."

An accomplished athlete, Hilliard also competed in track & field in high school. She competed in the 100m, 200m, 4x100m relay and the long jump. She was a regional qualifier in the 100m dash in 2014.

Jasmin is the daughter of Norman Hilliard and Millicent Fuentes. She plans to study Business or Marine Biology at Southeast Missouri.
