ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Mackenzie Peter delivered a game-winning single with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning to send Saint Louis (7-7) to a 4-3 victory over Southeast Missouri (4-9) Sunday at the Cancer Awareness Tournament.

After Emma Buckles lined out to start the bottom of the seventh, Brittany Durant reached on an error. Alex Nickel walked on four pitches to give SLU runners at first and second. Peter, down 0-2 in the count, then singled to right and Durant scored the decisive unearned run to give the Billikens the walk-off win.

Southeast took an early 1-0 lead when
Haylee Krack drove in
Claire Wernig on a two-out double to right center in the top of the first inning. Wernig, who reached on a fielder's choice, stole second to move into scoring position.

Peter's triple helped SLU tie the game during its at-bat in the first. She quickly scored when Elizabeth Everingham grounded out on the next play.

The Redhawks extended their lead to 3-1 after Krack singled home Wernig in the third inning and
Sarah Messex knocked in
Danielle Turner on a two-out single to right in the fourth.

SLU rallied to tie the game again in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Buckles doubled with one out before Taylor Meeks entered the game to pinch hit for Durant. Meeks, behind 0-1 in the count, hit
Madeline Krumrey's second offering over the left field wall to bring the game to a 3-3 deadlock.
Laney Kneib (1-0) picked up her first win of the season, allowing six hits and three runs in seven innings. Kneib, who retired Southeast in order in the top of the seventh, also walked two and struck out one.
Mackenzie Hoelting (0-3) was credited with the loss in relief. Hoelting gave up a run, walked one and scattered two hits in one inning.
SLU outhit Southeast, 7-6, with Peter going 2-for-4 with a run scored, triple and RBI to pave the way. The Billikens went without committing an error, as well.
Krack and Messex each had two hits to pace the Redhawks.
The Redhawks play host to the Southeast Games during its home-opening weekend on Mar. 12-13. Bradley and Eastern Illinois will also participate in the two-day event.
