Easter Egg Hunt SaturdayThere will be a
FREE Easter Egg Hunt for kids 12 and under in between games of Saturday's doubleheader between Southeast and Tennessee State.
Series HistorySoutheast's all-time series against Belmont stands even at 10-10. The Redhawks, who swept the Bruins in a doubleheader in Nashville, Tennessee last season, are looking to claim doubleheader sweeps in back-to-back years for the first time in the series. Meanwhile, Southeast owns a 55-10 advantage in its all-time series against Tennessee State. The Redhawks won 10 of their last 12 meetings with the Tigers, winning both games of a twin bill on the road last season. TSU has just two series wins over Southeast (2-1 in 2007; 2-0 in 2014).
Wrapping Up MarchThe Redhawks close out the month of March when they play host to Belmont (Mar. 25) and Tennessee State (Mar. 26). Southeast looks to snap a two-game losing streak this weekend. The Redhawks are presently 5-7 overall and 2-1 in the Ohio Valley Conference in March. Southeast last finished March with a win in 2008 (9-4, at Austin Peay on Mar. 30).
This Weekend's OpponentsBelmont and Tennessee State are 11th and 12th in the Ohio Valley Conference standings, respectively. Both teams come to Cape Girardeau at 7-21 overall and 0-3 in OVC play. The Bruins have lost five games in a row and the Tigers are on a six-game losing streak.
Strong StartSoutheast started Ohio Valley Conference play with a 2-1 series win over Murray State (Mar. 19-20). The Redhawks, who played for the first time at home this season, swept the Racers, 4-3, 9-1, in a doubleheader before dropping the series finale by a score of 16-5. Southeast posted three-straight series victories in league play dating back to the the 2015 campaign.
Redhawks Fall to Southern IllinoisThe Redhawks had a two-run lead after four-and-a-half innings before regional-rival Southern Illinois scored once in each of the final three frames to pull off a 3-2 come-from-behind victory Tuesday.

Sarah Messex drew a bases loaded walk in the first inning and
Harli Wheeler scored an unearned run in the top of the fourth. Savannah Fisher then broke a 2-2 tie with a walk-off one-out double in the bottom of the seventh, giving the Salukis their fifth-straight win.
Wernig Leads RedhawksOutfielder
Claire Wernig currently leads Southeast with a .338 batting average. Wernig boasts a team-high 24 hits and ranks second with 14 runs scored. She boasts a team-best eight multiple-hit games as one of three Redhawks who started all 21 contests.
Getting on BaseFreshman shortstop
Sarah Messex has reached base in 11-consecutive games since Mar. 5. Messex got on with a hit in six of those contests. It is the Redhawks second-longest streak this season behind
Claire Wernig, who reached base in 13-straight games from Feb. 26-Mar. 19.
Savannah Carpenter also reached base in eight-straight contests.
Season-HighSoutheast collected a season-high 15 hits in its 9-1 victory over Murray State (Mar. 19).

Batting Average ImprovesAs a team, Southeast raised its batting average 22 points from .251 to .273 over its last four games alone. The Redhawks are fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference in batting average.

Among Home Run LeadersSoutheast ranks fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference with 15 home runs through 21 games this season. Seven different players have hit a home run for the Redhawks.
Haylee Krack leads the team and is tied for first in the OVC with five home runs.
Danielle Turner follows close behind with three. Southeast has homered in 10 games this season and is 6-4 in those contests.

The Redhawks (2-1), Eastern Kentucky (3-0), Morehead State (3-0), Jacksonville State (3-0), Eastern Illinois (3-0) and Austin Peay (2-1) claimed series victoriesduring the opening weekend of league play. EKU (18-6), Morehead State (13-9) and UT Martin (15-11) are the three OVC teams with overall winning records this year.
Three MoreThe Redhawks need three wins to reach 1,000 in their softball program's history. Southeast has compiled 997 wins since its softball program began in 1977. Redhawk teams compiled 30 or more wins in a total of 15 seasons between the NCAA Division I and Division II ranks combined.

Mark Redburn is seven wins away from getting 200 in his career. Redburn is currently 193-267 in 12 years as a head coach. He compiled 27 wins at Southeast (2015 present), 90 at Evansville (2010-2014), 49 at Jefferson College (2005-2006) and 27 at St. Charles Community College (2002-2004).
